Hi all

We will be coming from the m58/m6
What is the best route to the rally?

It will be rush hour on the Thursday
So should we go on the m62 or
m56 then go across country around Sheffield?

Thanks
Michelle and Andy

Since 2015.......
M62 - M18- M180 - A15
:)
Should be traffic free up to caeneby corner, on the A15. But your nearly there st that point. Watch out for speed cameras along that bit.

Which part of the journey will be in the rush hour?

Mr B's route is by far the most straightforward & you won't have any traffic problems once you are east of Leeds on the M62, whatever the time of day.

It's a nice scenic route via Sheffield (well, it is while you are west of Sheffield anyway!), but I wouldn't consider it unless I was sure of being past Glossop before 4.30pm.

It's no further to go even further south & avoid Manchester & the M56 altogether - head for Buxton & Chesterfield. Nice drive but it will take longer unless you get really fouled up on either of the other routes.

A lot depends on exactly where you will be when & on your attitude to doing 5mph in a solid motorway queue! :((n)

If you are going to arrive at the Lincoln end at rush hour, then definitely the northern M62 route. You will have cleared the motorways before the traffic builds up & both the other routes will land you on the Lincoln by-pass at rush hour, which also comes to a standstill. Not what you want only 5 miles from your destination & your tongue is hanging out for that beer!

Thanks guys

Hubby is collecting me at 4 straight from work(give my work colleges something to talk about, when the MH parks outside school)
We will hit the m6 Wigan junction about 4;15
So no way we can be at gossip for 4:30

Yuck!

I think I would give the M67 --> Sheffield route a miss at that time if it was me. Too much chance of gridlock at the eastern end of the M67.

Either go like hell & hope to clear Manchester & onto the M62 before it gets too bad & accept that it will be slow anywhere from Huddersfield to past Leeds, or down the M6 to Knutsford & A537 to Buxton. Lincoln by-pass will be fine by the time you get there!

M62 probably slightly quicker unless you are very unlucky. Much quicker if no holdups. Certainly easier for the navigator!

M62 without a doubt Michelle. Everywhere is busy that time of night. I might opt for East Lancs from Haydock to miss M60/M62 junction.

Bet you still arrive before me & I only live 25 miles away. I'll be lucky if I get to start throwing things in the van until after 5.30pm. Then have to throw wife & wheelchair in, which isn't a quick job either!
