hi everyone

OK so i’m sick of our motorhome, Rapido Distinction i1090, 2 years old and owned from brand new and it’s been an absolute catalogue of bursts, failures, broken, snapped, poor quality, crap, not fit for purpose, junk, lack of communication.

I know i’m gonna get a lot of various recommendations but what do you guys recommend.

I’m looking at 7-8 mtrs, rear island moveable bed with big garage underneath, silver rather than white, Alde, and Mercedes rather than Fiat

Light interior rather than dark and brand new

And recommended dealers who do what they promise, also time taken to get warranty repairs done 🥲

budget £160/170k

So tell me what you’ve got and why you’d recommend

cheers

Al

I brought a Burstner 747-2 from new never had any problems and absolutely love it it’s getting older now but still better build quality than most new ones these days. German 🇩🇪 engineering 🤔
Good Luck with your research, it’s a personal opinion and I’m happy 😃

Rapido
Strangely our Rapido is superb, and a great improvement on our previous Burstner, both in design and quality (oh and gearbox…)

Guess its a lottery really.

yes but it’s not new (7 years old), 3 owners and another tag so much longer than what i’m after.

It’s also underspecced and a Fiat when i’ve asked for a Merc

And bloody horrible dark interior 😱

I thought ours was superb, don’t get me wrong we love the space, the layout and the looks. But the amount of issues over 2 years is totally unacceptable and getting us down if i’m honest

We bought our Dethleffs van new from Pullingers in Halstead, Essex. They have been superb!

Dethleffs dealer of the year for the past 5 or 6 years I think. Range of vans - think they are Adria, Le Voyageur Dethleffs dealers.

I would recommend them if any of their vans suit your needs. Barrie Pullinger, the son of the original owner, is the main sales contact.

With that budget you’ll have a good choice.

As for recommendations I’d recommend a Knaus which we have but not in that price bracket, we bought from Don Amott and happy with service received including some minor warranty work.

Have a look at the Sun I range very nice vans.

Knaus own Morello so certainly know how to build a quality van.

RS Motorhomes seem to be at the top end of the market, never had one and never will at those prices but they look good.
Not at 7-8 metres or in the specified price range.

Actually they don’t own Morelo but they are both backed by the same venture capital group.

Had our previous Argos 747-2 for 14 years after initially having many problems with it. Once sorted it turned out to be a brilliant family van. It is still sorely missed. 😎👍
