Best hob guard when gas behind driver seat??

Hi,
We are tooking at building the kitchen pod and thinking about the best ways to protect the drivers seat from the gas rings (as they will be just behind). Would you recommend extending the side wall of the pod up enough to attach a guard to it, or is a foldable guard the way to go?
Many thanks for your help....so much nitty gritty to think of at this stage of the build :)
 
Problem with foldable shields is that you've got to be disciplined enough to make sure you deploy it every time, or at least make the hob impossible to use unless it is. Personally I'd be fitting a decent permanent shield.

Assuming you are putting in a 2 burner hob you could turn it 90 degrees so that the glass lid opens towards the seat back - that's what it was like in a previous Rapido MH we had, same as this, you could do the same with a 3 burner hob if you have enough depth/width for it and then just put a permanent 'heat plate' on the outer wall:
