Had to share as I'm so happy with it.
Cost £30 on the ferry to st malo

You plug the lead into any device (in the head phone socket) and can hear your music out of the speakers which are a perfect size for the van
No wearing out your car battery with the sub woofers under the seat! Takes twodoubleA batteries and after 8 weeks haven't had to change them yet.
Best of all you can zip your device inside and it's a hardy protective case
Spotify off line and in house music sorted when wild camping.

The 'take music with you at all times' thing totally leaves me puzzled.

I will have radio on when I travel , but once im there, that's it. Same with piped music.. and as for Radio that does news and interviews and plays music over the top of it, aaarrggghhhh

Must admit we use a bluetooth speaker too, lots of volume plays off mini sd cards, usb sticks, headphone socket and has a radio as well so covers all the bases and lasts hours between charges

Bought a JBL Charge 2+ from J Lewis.. and the sound is quite amazing.. nice deep base with clear treble & rich mid-tones..
bought it for the van but it's used around the house now.. daughter has commandeered it

John Lewis have a good range of wireless speakers.. and they are happy to demonstrate..

Ah yes, but you can't beat a bit of the old 1950s technology for music playback:

Broken Link Removed

..provided you rip out the useless mouldy obsolete 90 volt LW/MW innards and pop a £10 Chinese USB/Micro SD/FM tuner/3.5 jack pod speaker inside and play whatever music you want:

The reverberation around the inside of the wooden box gives a great sound, especially with a bit of rock 'n' roll.

Blue Tooth speakers have come on leaps and bounds, the sound is incredible from such a small unit. Mine is also from John Lewis Jim(y)

On and off for many years.
We don't have a tv in the van (deliberate choice) and use the radio and MP3 player a lot. I love the battery powered speakers we have, two sets of rechargeable ones - not expensive but do the job. The MP3 is rechargeable and the radio runs off batteries.

Bought ours in Germany for the princely some of 12 €

It is really plenty loud enough and lasts for several hours on a single charge !

My bose CD player broke quickly and we never got it exchanged in guarantee so I don't like them too much. This was ten years ago though maybe they are better now

Bose colour soundlink. Bluetooth or mini jack plug audio inputs. Utterly awesome sound. Love it in the MH, around the house and outside too. Lasts hours and hours on own battery, rechargeable viastandard micro USB. Superb piece of kit for a bit under 100 squids.

Hi There Here is a page wtih reviews of bluetooth portable speakets

the Jam Heavy Metal HX-P920 gets a good write up and I would of gone for that one but managed to get Sony for £70 on Ebay.
As long as your laptop has bluetooth then you can pair the speaker with the laptop to hear the sound from the laptop to the speaker.
Best Wishes Tony

Hi There
This is the one I bought from Ebay I can't rate it against the Bose as I have not heard the Bose soundlink, but this sony I find very good and being hard of hearing it certainly has a strong and clear sound for me and quite a good bass and half the price of a bose, although all the people who have paid for Bose rate them very highly.

Hope this helps Best Wishes Tony

Have a look at this, works really well for me
Barrie
The trouble with finding a speaker like this is you tend to see the price and dismiss it because of the low price, but having someone like you who has one and is pleased with it helps no end, well done for sharing. Also I've found a you tube review of this speaker and it sounds quite good even through my desktop system.

Best Wishes Tony

Can we run films though it from a laptop?
That would depend on a couple of things..
Does the laptop have bluetooth, can you route the sound to the blue tooth adapter ?
