Sorry to call you to this post 596
But I think you are the most recent owner of the Bessacarr branded Swift.
Was yours pre built or factory build I know you've given my answer somewhere but I'd like to be certain.
I like the look of the bessacarr range especially little details like the copper coloured bessacarr name badge.
But the only ones I can find are all pre built.
Some pre registered or awaiting their first registration.
All the factory builds seem to be under the kon tiki brand.
I am seeing a lot of kon tiki sport branded swifts.
Just curious really as we are starting the search for our next Mh.
Maybe next year or the year after and quite like your layout.

The Bessacarr was brand that Swift bought, the quality was equivalent to the Kontiki, they have now branded the 596 the Kontiki Sport, the only difference is the name on the outside, the interior is grey and it has a double side opening Dometic Fridge (open left or right) which doors keep falling off. Ours was a specially made one (not just for us) that was a limited edition with a lot of unique features, the graphics are different, got a bigger engine and it appealed to me, we found it by chance as we were looking for a van with a specific payload and rear lounge, we don't want to be carrying a double bed round all day we like the space for the kids, maybe when we are really old we will go for a French or Island bed, at the moment we are still fit enough to drop a double bed down or make up one fo the other two doubles.

We had a choice of the Kontiki Sport or the Bessacarr, here are some pics of the Kontiki Sport interior, I personally felt it was cold and dark with the grey, I preferred the lighter colours and light wood, but its personal choice, except there are no more of mine so its tale it or leave it on a Sport. We have had a n awful lot of things put on ours but again that depends what you are wanting, I put some pics of the interior of mine on a thread last night while I was messing about in it, you can see them here, and below are the Kontiki sport colours, as I said its personal choice.

Hope that helps, I would be interested to know which colour you prefer not that it would change anything as I didn't personally like the grey, notice how the nice wood on the lockers is now painted cold grey! I have put a couple of mine below for contrast (y)

So have they replaced it with the kon tiki name?

Leaky,,Kontiki I as they were known.? BUSBY.

We changed to a Bessacar 597L this year and it seems ok, but after our Autotrail Savannah anything would be better.
I know you have good and bad in every make but that was a lemon first class.

That’s what I said, all the Bessacarr models have, the 596 is now called the Kontiki Sport and is absolutely identical apart from the 3 items I mentioned, maybe by the time you are looking for one the interior colour will change again, I was going to have ours reupholstered but the colour has grown on me after I saw the Kontiki Sport so will keep it for a few years.

The Chassis on the 596 is the only Maxi heavy duty Chassis, the others are all 3,500kg.

The 596 Kontiki Sport can be seen on page 59 on this link

I owned one for 9 years and it never leaked, it was perfect, I only changed it because of the new emission rules, what is your real practical experience with a Swift Kontiki to justify what you just stated?
