One of the hinges on the habitation door has seized and snapped of.

It is about 7 inches in length, made of aluminium and consists of 5 sections of which 3 sections are fixed to the door frame, 1 section is attached to the flyscreen and the final section is fitted to the actual habitation door.

My local motorhome supplier has contacted SWIFT but to no avail.

I anticipate that this is going to be a long saga to obtain them. I have contacted several Caravan Breakers who specialise in second hand parts but again without success.

If anyone can give me some advice or supply an alternative system I would be greatly appreciative.

Hi,

Try giving Ian in our Parts Dept a ring, we might be able to help as the Bessie could use the same parts as a Swift model.

In the meantime, try some Super Glue, it is surprising what that will fix.

Regards

Peter

Thank you for all the advice you gave.

I have managed to learn that the Explorer Group are still using this type of Hinge and have ordered 3 sets at £10.41p each. Should be here within a couple of weeks.

Just a bit more info for anyone interested,

The bottom half of my rear ladder recently got damaged (the hinge snapped on that as well) and had to be written off. I contacted HIATCO, the origonal manufacturer in County Durham and they have advised they will make me a new one for £76.38 Inc VAT and Carriage. Will take about 3 weeks,

Now thats what I call service.

Anyone interested contact Alan Davison at HIATCO.com

They appear to make quite a few aluminium ladders for Motorhomes and Caravans
