Hello! We are new to this group and hope that someone can throw light on our problem door.

We've had our wonderful 201 since Feb and the habitation door has never been easy. However today it just won't lock. We've tried everything from using the key, trying from inside, passing around with the mechanism.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so what did you do to rectify it? Do you think Marquis need to get a new lock mechanism in before we take it to them?

Looking forward to sharing tips n tricks with other Benimar ers, esp 201s.

could be as simple as the lock ring has come unclipped from the arm

Hi and welcome ,we have a Benimar too and also struggle with the habitation door to the extent that my wife can't open it from the outside and I can only just do it with a very very firm pull . (y)

Pop it back to Marquis, if they havent got a lock in the stores they could take one off a stock vehicle, be interesting to hear about their customer service.

Thank you for your responses. Especially interesting about all of your thoughts on Marquis' customer service as the first time they can look at it is in over a weeks time!! I did say that it wasn't good enough because at the moment it is a security issue as anyone can get in. Any alternative thoughts? - wondering about getting someone to fit a secondary lock but not sure we should have to or want to - would it be a sensible idea anyway?

for temporary security hold a length of wood across the inside door frame and tie it tightly to the door handle. then exit through a cab door. at least it would prevent the door from being opened from outside

from personal experience, once marquis have your money, they consider you a nuisance if you want any warranty work done

personally I would get a mobile caravan engineer out to fix the door

Only got our 201 on the 1st of sept, we found the hab door hard to open but if you push it in & then open the door rather than just pulling it, works for us

My Benimar 202 door was difficult to close - it would need to be slammed to make sure there was no gap around the seal - after being adjusted on several occasions it still did not cure it - so I had a replacement door!

Do you and your wife know about putting your thumb on the key plate to open the door. We had the same issues until Marquis told us about doing this.

Hi Benimars
Now wondering about an additional lock - Fiamma or Milenco seem to do them (though don't really fancy the additional paraphenalia) on the van.

Have any of you added one and if so, which one. Ideally it would be one which will lock from both the inside and the outside.

May then use a mobile motorhome engineer - please can anyone recommend one?

Thanks in advance

Brand new 243, lovely, except the bloody door..................seems Benimar need a rethink on its design. Can only lock by pushing door too, then pushing the locking bar from inside with a knife ....back to the dealers for help, so far Marquis Eastbourne have been fine...

Just picked up the Mileo 243 from Marquis Golden Cross Eastbourne. Habitation door fixed, adjustment was required. They also fixed a continuously shorting cable which had been fitted by Benimar along a scissor fitment that moves when the bed is lowered, mmmm.... scissor fitment.....what could possibly go wrong? The techs at Marquis have re-routed it. Good service and positive response from the team at Marquis, Eastbourne.
