Frankly.. Can't think of anywhere that warrants a few months staying on one site .. winter or summer..

Tried it in Spain once and was bored to tears after a few weeks.. I enjoy travel.. a few days here, a week there.. then move on..
Holiday resorts have no appeal... and long term sites even less.
Jim, I agree with that. If I wanted to spend the winter in one place I would buy a caravan or an apartment. To me motorhoming is about roaming.

Doing anything in or near Croydon is always going to miserable no matter what the weather is. ;)

Yes.. always nice to be home, ... I love where we live now.. that or traveling for me..
... squared wheeled on a Spanish camping site for months on end.. no thanks

I already said 'each to their own'. ..... no right or wrong.. is it a crime not to like something ?

And my post was not a criticism, simply pointing out that some of us, as you did, live on wheels and home is where the wheels are and sometimes that is for a few months at a time.(y)

I would agree that a motorhome is not the ideal means of over wintering and is best used for roaming. We have a 5'er which some say is a caravan anyway!!:)

However many of us live in our various types of wheeled accommodation, our home is where the wheels are, what we are doing is not motorhoming but living.

take your point about croydon but live in streatham, it was a hospital appointment. I'm a city boy and love London not a country bumpkin, living in back of beyond would bore me stiff

Lovely detached house on private road, opposite open parkland and woods., up in town in 30 minutes with all the best city in europe has to offer.....Love it! Anyway missing the point..post all about the weather. The intention is to cash in and move to the coast when Mrs Mental retires though....

How about your home?:)
As Eccles once said 'everybody gotta be somewhere'

Actually that has always been the one place that hopefully you won't find me. Even here I do not like being in my own house. Must come from getting up & going to work 7 days a week.
I like to keep moving (y)

Still making mistakes! But they're not as costly.
Hi, we are in Beni now, been here since October. I know why a lot of folk don't like it here, it's too sociable! All those 'kerb krawlers' who pretend they are wild camping would never dream of staying long enough in a place to really get to know it and enjoy other folks company. For me, it's about Fun and Beni is the funest place in Europe! Stay away all you 2 euro a day budget people. Don't need you here. Spain doesn't need you either.

I'm sure you are having a great time, but why do you feel the need to slag off others who think and or do differently ?

Spain is for everyone, whether you stop square wheeled for months on end on a site, or wild camp and or move on every other day ..

I've been on Spanish winter sites with the rows of Brit vans, partying and boozing at every opportunity reminded me of Coronation St .. sorry, but that's not for me,

as I said earlier.. each to their own.. one man's meat is another man's poison..

Well said Jim. I too have seen some of those sites, not just in Benidorm. Fun for a day or two for me to meet new people and chat to them but then it begins to wear off. Maybe it is because my liver can't keep up with the drinking? However I can understand why many would like it

I'm one of those that like Beni, I came down in caravan for a few years and then switched to a MH expecting to travel around Spain, which we did and stayed in some fantastic spots wild camping and small sites but the novelty soon wore off and we allways returned to Beni.
There is some fantastic walks in the hills around here and so much todo as opposed to some of the other places we have visited.
We enjoy the English tv that Raco has to offer and the constant hotwater allways available also the safety of being able to leave the van without the worry of being robbed.
We're all different what we enjoy and I hav'nt visited a club or any of the nightclubs for at least 10 years but we still enjoy English food and the prices they charge in Benidorm .We're just off out for fish and chips (every Friday) Icelandic cod in beer batter in the Yorkshire pride 4€ 50, boring I know but we love it

ScotJims point of view might be different to yours Bill, but there is no need to get personal. I'm sure you can argue your point without doing so. Thanks.

Got to say, I must have missed something in the translation as I didn't take the post as negative, just a response to a post...a different view.(y)

I find your post surprising Bill, Jim is known for using sites rather than wilding. He was defending the right of people to have a different opinion. Sitting on a site amongst hardened drinkers it is not easy to be sociable without joining in. I for one do not drink to that extent and am sure there are many others either for health or lifestyle choices avoid that sort of company. That does not make us cheapscates or unsociable, we just do things differently. Each to their own they pay for the right to live how they wish. I was coming around to trying Benidorm until I saw this thread.

The main thing about going to Benidorm for us is is getting away from the cold and damp atmosphere of Britain, and the almost guaranteed warmth of Benidorm, but with us having very elderly parents who rely on us we can only get 6 weeks maximum away.

We have stayed on sites in winter for varying lengths of time throughout Iberia, presently on a site in Portugal for 6 months, lots of Brits, lots of French, lots of Dutch, some Germans, some Scandivanian.

We do not socialise much though we do drink, we have pleasant chats and get on well with our neighbours but we do not get involved in large, form a circle, gatherings. Believe it or not it is not compulsory.

We do not do rallies or meets for the same reasons.

We spent 10 days in a site in benidorm. We loved it anyway. Didn't go to any nightclubs. Wish I'd seen sticky Vicki though lol. Good cabarets in beni we've been told. Have to catch them next time.
loved it for the weather and the reasonable price food.
