We are going away to Salcombe in July for a week, I'm trying to work out how to refill the the water tank whilst on site. We will have to use the water for everything but drinking, we will take bottled water for that. We have a 2009 Pilote G732 which has its water intake halfway up the side of the van. I have several ailments which occasionally make the physical side of life quite awkward and am concerned about how to refill the onboard water tank if I'm feeling less than capable. The Boss has bought windbreaks and a 7m skirt to keep the hounds confined and I'm not sure if moving the van once setup is a viable option.
Is there a way to use a Aquaroll or similar and some form of electric pump?
Is having metres and metres of hose a better option?
Or something else?
Many thanks, if this has been asked before ( I did use the search but couldn't see anything that I thought related to my situation) I apologise .

YOU have opened a can of worms here...
3 options
Hose
Water can
Aquaroll..
I personally have aquaroll with a submersible pump that you can plug into 12 socket in van thru window... cheapest I found... search for diesel submersible transfer pump... (not a wind up).
But as I say, some swear by the hose route or the run back and forth with a watering can which you still need to lift up to filler. Take yer choice, but as I say aquaroll for me..

SheikhLala ... just reread your post and it would appear once you set up on site you same as us.... you don't want to move, so I reavalulate my recommends too just two..
Unless very close to tap, hose useless... so that leaves manhandling a water can....
Or an aquaroll..😎😎😎

I fill a watering can up and do it on trips to the showers/toilet block or bins. Couple everyday as and when needed

The Aquaroll and submersible pump would be the best solution. The submersible pump is 12v with a power lead that has a cigar lighter plug.
I stayed on a CAMC site last year that had pitches beside the facilities location for less able people where a short'ish hose would suffice. I expect you have to book one specifically beforehand.

You can also buy transfer tanks on wheels that caravanners use to take the grey water to the dump point. In use it lays flat on the ground.

OP States that he has certain medical issues that i read as he may not be able to lift (and more importantly hold) a full watering can up at his filling point..

SheikhLala ... I think you answered your own query in your first post when you asked if there was a way to use an aquaroll with a pump.. You have obviously decided ,IMV quite rightly that that is your preferred option..
If you go ahead... don't get an expensive Whale submersible pump with very small lts/min but go for (as stated earlier ) a diesel transfer pump with much higher flow rate.. ( they do fit in later aquaroll ) and the one I have got has an on/off switch on cable

Yes hose good, and carry a variety of connectors to attach hose to site tap.

I have several ways to carry water but the most saved the day one is a 150ft collapsible hose from internet for 15 quid, it loops back up into a tiny bag in seconds and is as light as a feather

I go with this, I’m in a wheelchair so carrying water is a no no for me, I have three of these hoses and I haven’t been on a site yet where I couldn’t fill up from my pitch ..

I know the area fairly well, what site are you planning to go to?
High House Farm, East Portlemouth.
Used to stay the other side of the village as a kid. Many happy holiday memories of Mill Beach and Start Point.

That the side I prefer - away from the crowds on the Salcombe side. :)

Perhaps you may need to consider full serviced pitches.

Ask someone at the site for help, you’ll be on holiday along with everyone else, there is bound to be someone willing to help, if the worst occurs pm me & I will drive over from plymouth to help, I like salcocombe & was there yesterday

Cheers for the offer, that's very thoughtful of you. We spoke to the site and apparently we will get away with a 20 metre hose, its only a small 5 pitch CL site.
If you are around the area, we'll be there from the 02/07 for a week and you're most welcome to pop by for a beverage.

I would get an aqua roll. You can fill them on the side filler, don’t even need to tip them over then. Roll to your van and pump into the tank using a portable 12v pump. No lifting and if too heavy and hilly, don’t fill too much.

Also consider using the collapsible hoses. I carry 2 30m ones and never yet found a tap more than 60m away. 👍

I don’t know where you are staying & how well you know the area but I can offer you tips on where to visit (I am a carer working with disabilities) that if you are unfamiliar may be suitable that you may not have considered, it’s a beautiful area, you will love it

We're staying just outside East Portlemouth, near the Gara Rock Hotel. As a child we holidayed here for 7 or 8 years and it has many happy memories. I still remember the old blue ferry from EP to Salcombe.

Another vote for the Aquaroll and cheapie pump. I have the smaller 30 Ltr one which is dead handy!

What are you doing about waste? I would pitch the motorhome and windbreak in a way that makes it reasonably easy to get the MH out and fill with water/ empty waste/ empty toilet casette.
Out and about live indicates a payload of 350 kg or less for your model I suspect with the skirt windbreaks aquaroll pump etc wife and dogs you're going to be struggling for payload.

Fill up at home👍

See above comment about payload( I suspect I typed it as you did!). From what the op says he's thinking of setting up in place for a while and that's the problem. He could probably fill up on arrival before pitching

I had a look and couldn't find ours. Ours is plated at 4000kg, so hopefully bit more payload?

The one I was looking at was actually 2011 and was 325 payload at 3500 so you're plated at 4000 hopefully fine. Hope you have a great trip.

We use a Colapz USB rechargeable pump like this https://colapz.co.uk/collections/all-products/products/new-12v-portable-rechargeable-travel-shower with an Aquaroll (the blue lighter weight, cheaper version when space to carry it) or bag https://colapz.co.uk/collections/all-products/products/collapsible-35-litre-utility-bag which can carry water but lots of cheaper versions available too. For the Colapz version 10% Fun discount code here Broken Link Removed but do shop around as any Colapz products may be cheaper via different retailers.

Also have a Colapz watering can for small top ups which is cheaper from Amazon Amazon product ASIN B07BK93BX7This clever hose is food safe, compact & very useful https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/foru...-drinking-water-with-5-year-guarantee.238543/
