Driving in France without corrected beams is an offence, same as it is here, do they check Ive heard they randomly do, some have said some checks take place on ferries, I can't confirm this.
I can confirm beam benders should NOT be used directly on plastic type headlights, they damage the plastic, head light protectors should be fitted first and the beam benders fixed to those, if you have an American most seem to have straight beems anyway and require no alteration for either country

Roger,

I have been lead to believe that you never see a French,German or Spanish car visiting the UK with head light deflectors because they dip straight and down rather than to the left or right.

The same appears to be the case in the USA, I think but don't quote me on it that the manufactures sending cars to and for UK use are starting to copy the continent.

I fitted beam benders to ours about three years ago but never took them off on returning. The van has passed its MOT every year with the beam benders still on.
Must have saved at least a tenner not having to buy new ones!

Not necessarily.

Older RVs will need altering, newer models have the straight beams......from our experience anyway.

I'd need more than just a photo John.
If you can PM me with the part number off the units and the dimensions I shall see if I can find anything.
