While reading the french strikes thread I came across the bbc comments from March on the then forthcoming changes to the labour law.

The commentator had the following comment:

Politically it will be a master-stroke, probably allowing the law to go through with a couple of "reformist" unions onside and avoiding all-out confrontation with the street.

Interestingly nobody seems to think that imposing it without a democratic vote upset people. Bit like the EU really.

btw still think it will blow over shortly and France will again be one of the best countries to motorhome in.

There is the thought that they will want to resolve the matter so that the Euro Football does not turn into a disaster as a result!

Le Mans is also likely to be disrupted with a massive British following unless something gets done.

Let's just hope that they don't start blockading the tunnel and ferry ports to deny holiday makers arriving as at least we can head for Belgium and Luxembourg at present!

My thoughts are with anyone who has booked a holiday with a fixed destination as it seems that insurance won't cover the situation - you work all year to take your family for break and then this happens!
