We are wondering about including Bavaria in our travels this year. Has anyone been there? Do you have any advice or 'must see' places? I will be getting the 'Lonely Planet' guide and already have 'Camperstops Europe'

:)

Heidleberg is worth a visit ...long time since I've been but Bavaria is lovely stayed at a lovely terraced site at Waldshutt where in the site restaurant you could pick out your own trout swimming round in a big tank.
Hope you enjoy it.

Heidelberg is a must see. We camped on the Neckar and took the boat in.

Fussen and Neuschwanstein magnificent.

Garmisch Partenkirchen for opulence and highest peak.

And if you get that far might as well nip into Italy !!

We aim to do Bavaria in June.
Have a very loose plan based on a bit of research which may be helpfull for you!
- via Belgium and Luxemburg to then follow the Rhine south to Freiburg, then Lake Constance, across to Fussen - and from there decide how much time we have left to either dip a toe into Austria (really fancy Area 47 - google it!) or then head up the 'romantic road' to Rothenburg, then heidelberg, Koblenz and maybe the Mosel back towards the ports.
Works out about 1300 miles from port to port. Will be between 3 - 4 weeks, ish!
