Our leisure battery has died so we bought exactly the same make and model with a view to fitting it ourselves as we can’t get to our dealer for a while. Yu-power ypc100-12 the old terminals are much bigger than the new ones so the connectors don’t fit. Can we buy the brass things to put on the new battery? Old battery picture 1st. New battery 2nd and connector.

Must say, I've never seen a battery with a hexagonal post before.

The new one looks suspiciously like a regular bolt.
Perhaps it threaded to accept a large ring terminal.
Try a spanner on the hex and GENTLY try to unscrew it.
If it does you just need to swap your existing clamp for a suitably sized ring.

It isn't it is a 10mm bolt head of a 6mm thread. The OP needs to remove the "dummy" brass posts from battery 1 &put on 2.

The batteries would appear to be AGM which come with a post that is only a few mm above the casing & are usually used on golf Carts & mobility scooters which is why they Don't have the normal terminal and use the adaptors.

Neither had I until I looked it up.

You can buy battery posts that fit onto the the new terminal using the bolt.

Thanks. We did try to unscrew the brass covers from the old battery but the Allen key bent and didn’t loosen. We’ll try again at home later. Or I’ll buy some new ones. Thanks for all the advice.

If you are attaching just one cable then I would take off the terminal clamps you have and fit nice crimped on ring terminal. Much nicer job, and I’m not liking how the connection is made on your current ones. Looks very untidy solder joint.

do you mean the connector that looks like an incomplete circle at the end of the cable looks bad? or the red terminal on the old battery? Excuse my ignorance, totally lacking in practical skills!

I’m not overly keen on the quality of this joint. Although I can‘t fully see it.

I just changed mine from the clamps to a crimped ring & bolted them down a couple of weeks back.
I also had to change battery position on mine as this type are 35 mm taller than a lead acid & don't go under the seat as too tall & close to too many metal bits.
Just had a look and they are 8mm bolts.
Mine must be older as it is definitely 6mm thread.

Thanks, we managed to get the brass connectors off the old battery at home using better quality and longer Allen keys. We'll try and put it all back together when we next go to our storage compound. we only use the battery lightly as usually we are on electric hook-up.
