hi.
I am after some help on a battery drain on my fiat Ducato swift kontiki. Fuse 1 in the engine fuse box described as cfb protection 60amp is causing 0.5 amp drain. I cannot find what this means. By the size of the fuse I'm wondering if it's to do with the starter or alternator circuit. Some information would be great

It appears that fuse is a master fuse for the Central Fuse Box...or CFB.
something else within the fisebox is causing your drain....most likely the radio memory and factory alarm immobiliser.

Thanks for that. Is the central fusebox the one under the bonnet or inside. Will look into the alarm as have already disconnected the radio. My concern is it's something major due to the size of the drain.

The ECU will be using some of the power. They have been known to flatten a battery in a couple of weeks. Our Swift had a small lever on the ignition switch that let the lock go one more stop. This turned off all the power and everything had to be set again on startup. The radio lost its channels and the clock and date were wrong. Think this was Swift / Fiat trying to solve a problem. The ECU has to run all the while or the remote locking does not work. The cure of course is a solar panel that just keeps everything topped up and ready to go.

0.5 drain is what we get on ours when the master power is switched on (that's with nothing actually powered up). Switching off the master power and the drain drops to around 0.2 to 0.3 amps.
As previously stated, there are many things that use power without your knowledge, alarms and radios are the usual suspects.

Hi Steve,if you have a pioneer radio this could be the problem, had one fitted a few months ago and the radio fitter fitted a seperate switch to isolate the radio, as it drains the current even when it is switched of,it only happens with Pioneer or so he says, hope this helps.

The drain could be anything , Easier for fit a battery monitor if you have solar , which you should have fitted saying as you own a MH :reel:

Ducato/Boxers etc seem to do this - I never managed to figure out why.
(assume this is the starter battery?)

Easiest answer is maybe a small solar charger to keep it topped up? I know people that disconnect the negative terminal if the van won't be used for a while as well.

I had the same problem on my 2016 Bessacarr, as described by @QFour if it was left in storage for any amount of time I would have to isolate the cab battery by turning the ignition back an extra notch, things to check are the t.v aerial booster and the heater control panel, I had to make a mental note to keep these switched off when I left the van, I had already gone through 2 new batteries and was told by the dealership that if I didn't isolate the cab battery as described then I should expect it to go flat within 2-3 days, found that hard to believe but never wanted to take the chance again

Our 2014 boxer was parked up for a month when it was new and the battery was OK. I've been told the computer systems should shut down after several minutes inactivity, if they don't for whatever reason it quickly flattens the battery.
