We are on hook up with our new Carthago.
The display is showing a discharge of -2.1 amps and the batteries are habitation 13.1 and vehicle is 13.6. The heating is on 1kw and the fridge is on a low setting.
Is this correct, I expected t it to show it charging when on hook up. Can someone put me right please.

are you sure the hook up is on.......mine shows over 14v when hooked up

Not sure of your system, but mine won’t show that kind of voltage unless I switch on the battery charger. It doesn’t come on automatically, might yours need turning on?

I always look for confirmation my hook up is working, our controller has a plug symbol, but I tend to check fridge has moved to mains 👍

Would expect 14V and no draw if charger on and working

I put NEW hab batteries on mine this year and that was the kind of reading I was getting the first few times on EHU.
I was told that it was correct and would take some time to reach higher and that appears to be correct.

On some EHU bollards you have to rotate the connector clockwise after plugging in to switch on the power. They can be quite stiff to turn.

If you turn off your heating you will probably see the voltage rise and the negative amps reduce somewhat. I don't have a carthago but the voltages look ok to me ,it's seems that you are just about drawing a little more power than putting in

Not very good photo due to reflection. The only thing turned on is the fridge. We have been on hook up since since Sunday. The charger has a green light and the hook up is on. It's showing on the control panel and I've checked the bollard. The sun is out so we should have a tiny bit of solar. When we arrived on Sunday the panel was showing 14+ on both batteries. We have two gel habitation batteries. We are not big power users as we are usually off grid.
I'd like an idea of what to expect, surely if we are on EHU and with only the fridge on then it should be putting some puff in, not taking it out.

Have you checked the voltage of the ehu coming into your van.if it is low then that's why the fridge is showing a high amp usage One site we were on recently went down to 200 v the fridge was still running but at 195v the fridge cut out .batteries still being charged but around 13.1 v.

The amount the battery is showing suggests it is charging. The charge it is getting will vary depending on the state of charge of the battery. If it is already fully charged it will not show a high figure. Mine sits at around 13.7 when charging and 12.7 when fully charged but can vary between those figures depending on the charge of the battery.

On ours the battery charger is always on unless the electric control unit is switched off....which it never is.

The heating and the fridge will not be using the battery whilst hooked up as they will take power directly from mains. The only thing using the battery would be lights and usb sockets or anything 12V.

Thanks that sounds logical. I don't have anything with me to check the supply voltage, but we have been surprised at how often it throws off whilst very little power is being used.

I can only compare it to our previous Carthago. We rarely used hook up as usually on French Aires, but even if we were plugged we never had it throw the EHU. We are at Filey Brigg so not quite the same as La Rochelle, but Filey is a lovely place to be.

Looks OK to me. Both batteries showing as full. The minus is what you are consuming.

That how I read it or at least how it works in my van? The minus has nothing to do with the battery, turn off the consumption, fridge heater etc. and then take a reading?

Thanks everyone. Like lots of things a decent explanation saves red face whilst complaining to the dealer.
