I have a cheap monitor that calculates/ displays SOC simmular way to a bmv712. Now i have gone lithium i have added an issolator to negative for " winterization " , thus shunt is no longer powered and Soc data lost. Could i power the shunt from the sb (trickle charged from votronics mppt controllers) and thus retain SOC until not isolated.
I have a secondary problem in that the monitor is not very sophisticated and has no lithium settings, thus a discrepancy between it and battery bms. I have misgivings about the way the battery bms has displayed Soc. On 2 totally separate occasions the SOC has decreased 30% overnight, with nothing on other than control panel. I was concidering a bmv712, would this work with SB power and with correct settings be more believable than a cheap bms. Next step would then be control charging using the bmv.
