3 years and learning!
Our dear old 1999 Swift was smacked by a flying heavy wood panel during the storm, resulting in one window and frame being obliterated and severe damage to the surrounding body work, the assessor is due to visit, the insurance company asked if I had anybody in mind to carry out the repairs, not having to do this before, I am hoping some good people on this forum may have some recommendations for this work, ideally in Essex or surrounding area,
Thanks for any advice.

Oh dear not good news hope someone from your area can think of somebody

Some photos of the damage might be helpful. Hope you get it repaired well.

You might be better doing a diy repair given the age, I think a lot of the main dealers will shy away from wanting to get involved.
A good "back street" repairer might be better if you don't fancy doing it yourself

I would do the bodywork (grew up in a a glass fibre environment) but my concern was trying to find a replacement window, my thinking was that if a different window, ie. size needed to be fitted then having it repaired "professionally" might be the best option.

Put some photos up, you'll get lots of useful advice.
If you can measure the window opening, someone may know if a straight replaceement is likely

Where in Essex are you.

They said worst storm for years , only a one bin storm though , still waiting for the big one , a three binner

Not near you but there is a motorhome repair garage in Reddish Stockport not sure of the name that when i pass nearly always had older motorhomes in for damp and habitation bodywork repairs.

I would imagine many repair companies will be booked up for months ahead and looking for easier more profitable work.

Everything can be mended, it's just having the will (and often the finances) to do so.

If you are going to have a go repairing it, there are a few blogs on this forum where bigger repairs have been carried out successfully. I'm sure they would offer any advice if asked?

Best wishes and good luck, you never know, due to current prices you might get a decent settlement if they deem it a total loss ...?

you could give Les Batemans a try. in Rochford 01702 548661

Thank you all for your help and advice, it gives me a much better insight into the way these things work and grateful for the links which I will be investigating, now all I have got to do is clear up 6 x 40 foot conifers and restore the telephone line to its original position!
