a bargain based on the dealer price, but a dealer is likely to offer nearer £60k to buy it into stock. Fantastic van for the money but out of the reach of most buyers and those with the cash available may be more likely to look at a brand new van of a lower spec

That's an absolute bargain.

The wrong time for us unfortunately or I would buy it like a shot.

We nearly bought an identical one from new 4 years ago but the dealer was offering us a really crappy trade in on our 3 year old Aviano to the extent that I wasn't prepared to do business with them.

Good luck with the sale(y)

I have tried autotrdar, eBay, and a couple of other places.
I looked at the Facebook group, but judging by whats already listed there I doubt anybody there would be looking for a van at this price.

The markup is £7500.

That really does surprise me that a dealer would be prepared to take that financial risk for such a small profit unless he has a punter lined up to buy it.

I wouldn't hesitate before they change their mind

I agree, if it is as said (and I have no reason to disbelieve it), then the markup is only £6250 as the remainder needs to be paid by the dealer to the VAT man. Doesn't leave much wiggle room to pay for the valet, pre delivery inspection, 12 months MOT, some fuel and gas, carry out the handover and either sort out any little problem that needs fixing in the next three months or purchase a dealer protection warranty.

I would be parked up at the dealers gate waiting for them to open and take their money asap.

No guarantees, no.
They are selling on commission, they are not buying it from me.

Ah that explains it. I'm not sure how a dealer acting as a broker affects warranty and the Consumer Rights Act. Still seems a bit thin to me

Well Mel,,, I reckon there's not much more than 5.000 pieces,so in fact I should just ask makems to send it now ( so they don't have to go through the dismantling process, saving them more money, time etc!)

If that's acceptable to them I could then borrow the £4,999 I need and get it next week!! Xx

I always explain brokerage as being like an estate agency with a bit of conveyancing mixed in. A broker simply finds a buyer and 'introduces' them to the vendor, playing the part of the intermediary throughout the sale, handling the money transfer and ensuring the paperwork is completed.
Brokers cannot agree the selling price, they can only pass on the offer to the vendor who then decides to either accept or reject; whereas dealers are selling their own asset and can decide without consultation to accept or reject an offer.
Because the broker is only being paid a commision for finding a buyer, and the vendor isn't selling as part of a business, then there are no consumer rights attributed to the buyer/purchaser. It is pretty much the same as buying privately.

Put simply, the van is only worth what someone will pay for it and so far £72k doesn't appeal to anyone here. If the dealer can find you a buyer for £79k it sounds like you are on a winner. Already sounds to me like you might have to reconsider what your walk away price is post commission, no use everyone telling you it's a bargain if it's on your drive 12 months later. Having said that, nice van and hope it goes quickly for you.

Should have added, if the broker is VAT registered, then the commission fee will be 'plus VAT'.
In the marine world commission rates are normally advertised at 8% for multi brokerage listing and 6% for sole listing, although in reality the rate is 6% for either as brokers are desperate for boats to list. All plus VAT as already indicated.

Not to mention you have now missed the best selling time and folks wont be thinking about motorhomes with Xmas around the corner and when trade picks up your van is going to be a year older:(
