Living the dream.
Santander we’re the first bank to try to charge us. There’s possibly one or two that don’t now but 5% seems a lot. Try for one that charges a fixed fee and draw the max allowed out.

Yes your Revolut card will be commission and transaction fee free at main bank ATMs.
However, if you have the free account, there is a limit on how much cash you can withdraw per day/per month and it is not a lot.

I found that I used the Revolut card for all payments in France, just tap and go and that is best way to pay for things.

ATM Withdrawals

Free withdrawals up to 5 ATM withdrawals or £200 per rolling month (whichever comes first), then a fee applies. That fee is 2% of the withdrawal, subject to a minimum fee of £1 per withdrawal.

We have used ATM's at Unicaja banks in Spain and they have not levied a charge for use, the last time being last week. As we use a Clarity card, Halifax don't charge us either

It seems they are starting to introduce charges for cash withdrawals in Spain.
Although there still seem to be free ones around.
I've never yet been charged in France or Germany

Wait till we go totally cash free, these banks will fleece everyone.
At the moment it's exactly the opposite. You can pay with the right credit or debit card commission free. It makes sense cash is very expensive for the bank to deal with. When we had our business account paying in cash was at a pretty high charge so we called it drawings in the acounts and paid into a personal building society account. I think using tokens to pay ( cash) is on its way out.

We use Santander zero cards no fees for withdrawing cash & when the monthly settlement is due, BOE exchange rate, at that point is charged. We used them in France for 3 weeks in Sept 22, really straight forward.

I think from what others have said it's not the card provider that charges it's the machine provider so it's generally for all cards

We didn’t withdraw much cash, but used the Zero card for fuel, food, admission charges etc, paid in the local currency, euros. No commission charges on the monthly settlement.

There is no charge using the zero card at Santander branches in Spain but other banks do charge you. The zero card is commission and Santander fee free if in local currency.

I seem to get charged €3.90 to withdraw euros from a euro balance on a Revolut card, but I don't do it often - and I usually use Caixa/Bankia whatever they're called nowadays.
One of the benefits of a Revolut Premium card is the ability to withdraw larger sums and more frequently, if that's your bag
