Anyone been to Baltic wharf recently? I'm off there shortly and Google maps is telling me I can arrive from the west, are the road closures still in place outside and if so what's the best way to approach?

Yes. Follow the SS Great Britain brown signs onto Cumberland Road. That’s how we arrived last week.Ha, it's full and we won't arrive until after 7.00 this evening. They phon ed and told me to pitch on number 1 so I assume that's right next to the road . Thanks for the driving directions, I'll have another look. Is there a diversion signposted, I'm coming under the suspension bridge from the M5

The low emissions zone in Bristol is not due until October. The Baltic Wharf site will be closed before then.Isn’t there an emissions issue around Bristol getting to the site?
A few weeks ago, I approached it from the M32 end and, although I had done that route many times, the new layout on the island just past Temple Meads put me in the wrong lane to go along The Cut. Luckily they have built a way to get across into the right lane (the left lane) if the traffic is friendly. We’ve just returned from a few days at Baltic wharf, we were on pitch 32 or 33. The works started just after 6:00am and carried on until 6:00pm. However we found that the noise wasn’t too intrusive and soon accustomed. The access to the waterfront and Bristol itself made it all worthwhile. Sadly that was our last visit (tear) we will miss it. Get a map and familiarise yourself with the road layout in order to make arrival and departure painless. We drove around for ages as we “thought” we knew the area. You need to be driving west on Cumberland Road to access the site and that will mean coming from the large roundabout at Redcliffe which meant we actually came from the west driving east along the A370 Coronation Road from Ashton Gate.
They weren’t working at the weekend when I was there last month. We arrived last night at about 7.30 and also did the 'up one side of the river and back down the other' diversion but I noticed the road outside the site is open both ways with traffic lights controlling the traffic so currently you can approach from both directions, (obviously this can change).
Pitch 1 is right opposite the main works, I can see the top of two diggers just over the wall. Luckily for us NO noise until 7.45 then they started a digger and loaded a truck for 5 mins, the van actually shook when they tipped into the truck, however it's been quiet since. Hopefully they don't work Saturday ?
You can't turn right out of the site and diversions take you back the way you came in. Buses do go eastwards though. Glad you got there anyway. We arrived last night at about 7.30 and also did the 'up one side of the river and back down the other' diversion but I noticed the road outside the site is open both ways with traffic lights controlling the traffic so currently you can approach from both directions, (obviously this can change).

I was told by the warden that you can turn right. The sign is just advisory. You can't turn right out of the site and diversions take you back the way you came in. Buses do go eastwards though. Glad you got there anyway.
Fingers crossed thenThey weren’t working at the weekend when I was there last month.
Why put it there then? It is a round red sign that is No Right Turn.!!!????? The exit is a tight turn that way. Maybe for larger units?I was told by the warden that you can turn right. The sign is just advisory.
Haha, I was just laughing at the sign currently outside the office.I was told by the warden that you can turn right. The sign is just advisory.
Love it! I was waiting for the traffic lights on the site to change and chatting to the warden. I asked him why I couldn’t turn right and he told me I couldHaha, I was just laughing at the sign currently outside the office.View attachment 508216
Maybe you weren't exactly pitched up to the peg and that was his way of getting you a fineLove it! I was waiting for the traffic lights on the site to change and chatting to the warden. I asked him why I couldn’t turn right and he told me I could
I wonder why though? There is no restriction on the road past the site.I wonder if it's an official road sign or an 'advisory' sign put up by the site? I'll go and have a look.....
Looks pretty official.

My guess, large units, especially caravans, getting damaged or stuck on the tight turn.I wonder why though? There is no restriction on the road past the site.
Cheers Yes found our way in no problem.Fond Xmas memories of Baltic Wharf. They show & say its "Full" but I bet there are the usual 3/4 pitches empty with "The No Shows"
Many of us will miss it, good in a way that it got a short reprieve from being developed into flats.
Have a good time, hope the OP finds an easy way to get to the entrance gate both in & out, good luck.
