camping and caravanning since a kid. New to motorhomes
As anyone who has had a Bailey will know the whale water inlet connector is unusual for a motorhome. Carry over from the Bailey caravans spare bin no doubt.
The flat water hose with connector often splits and replacements are pretty steeply priced.
Does anyone know if there is an adaptor that can be attached to the inlet connection and also with a standard Hozelock type connection on the other end ?

I like the system but the whale adaptor hose is made out of cheese, I’ve had no problem with the actual adapter but the hose springs leaks ALL the time

Yep agree but can the hose just be replaced onto the adaptor or does the whole thing have to be replaced

You can replace the "irrigation hose" supplied by Whale (disgraceful they are still supplying the rubbish hose) with a normal (food grade) hose. Use the existing fittings by taking them apart and a carefully positioned skinny Jubilee Clip.

That’s interesting. Will have a look at how it comes apart 👍👍

I had the impression it was rubbish, can't fill with a bucket or watering can appears to make life difficult for off grid use.
Can be filled via the access hatch inside the van with bucket or hose.

But you are, of course, right Lenny in that the main connection is only usable with the whale connector which is only sold with a 7.5m flat hose or via a submersible pump and an aqua roll. Not ideal especially as the flat hose is not very robust.

There should be an adaptor to connect to the inlet and allow for a standard hose connector

While you have it apart remove the non-return valve (something that is not in the Aquaroll filler pump kit) and it will fill quicker.

Thanks will do. Can’t see the water authorities checking them for compliance 😂😂

Ours goes in for modification, ie ripped out when we get back. Normal sensible system to replace it.
Filling by the cap on top of the tank indoors has hardly been a chore.

For the first time this year we have left the aquaroll at home. If we’re going somewhere where we know water will be available, we fill about 1/3 using the Whale hose so we don’t travel carrying 100 litres.
When parked up, top up using a 10litre fold flat container accessing through the internal hatch. No big hassle and don’t have a bulky aquaroll to cart about. It’s a 10 minute a day additional routine and much prefer it. If the Whale port was replaced by something that would allow a watering can or suchlike, that would be better but not really an issue for us.

Mine has gone now so can't show it but I cut the hose off the inlet connector leaving enough to put a hozelock adaptor on the 12" or so l left (to allow for future hose failures). Depending on the distance to the tap I used the rest of the flat hose or an X hose on the end.

Cut mine out and put six inches of normal hose with a plug on hose fitting which I can then fasten anything to.
Worst problem is the special hose clip inside the filling unit. Hard to get a normal hose clip in their so bought a set of the proprietory fittings along with the tool to engage them. Total cost £20 but I can fix it forever now.

This is not really a Bailey issue - the method of filling is actually pretty good. This is a Whale rubbish hose issue which they have the bare faced cheek to charge a out £65 for.
