You made the schoolboy error of not telling them that you would like to use it in the rain lolView attachment 234810

Get on site, whizz out the cassette awning just before the heavens open. Ahh has I thought a nice dry space next to the van. Wrong! The rain just p**ses down the side of the van. No seal between the van and the awning!
How many more things are wrong with this MH?

Another incorrectly fitted one. Both our non Bailey Moho's have had an awning fitted & both have had a slight gap between van body & awning case resulting in a slight drip down the side of the van when it rains, 90% + of the floor space the awning covers remains dry & usable.
That said we use it as a sun shade & not an umbrella.

Exactly what I did with my Pilote - the awning stood proud of the side due to the structure of the van so I simply bought 4 metres of Fiamma drip strip and slid it into the slot designed for the purpose. As @Riverbankannie says, it is really designed as a sunshadeI don’t think it’s a fault. The awning designed as a sun shade. You can get a Fiamma drip stop to channel water away if necessary. Be careful about leaving awning out in heavy rain it’s not designed for it. Always put a sideways slope on if any rain expected (one leg higher than other).
Rain often comes with wind so always use extra tie down straps.

Impossible to fit the awning flush on a Pilote A Class, though. And quite a few other vansThe seal is just to stop crud collecting in the gap. The awning has been fitted incorrectly it should be sealed to the body all the way along.

If it is on the correct Fiamma supplied brackets there will be a 3mm gap. Fitting flat to the body is the lazy way that makes awning removal for repair a much more difficult job than necessary. The seal is just to stop crud collecting in the gap. The awning has been fitted incorrectly it should be sealed to the body all the way along.
On the thule a bracket the full length of the awning is fitted to the van and the awning hooks on to it .If it is on the correct Fiamma supplied brackets there will be a 3mm gap. Fitting flat to the body is the lazy way that makes awning removal for repair a much more difficult job than necessary.

You could be right but if that's the case my Thule has been fitted with Fiamma brackets. Which is obviously a possibility as it was installed before l bought the van .On the thule a bracket the full length of the awning is fitted to the van and the awning hooks on to it .

The fitting depends on the van on Hymers the the bracket is shaped to fit around the roor/body joint. You could be right but if that's the case my Thule has been fitted with Fiamma brackets. Which is obviously a possibility as it was installed before l bought the van .
