I'd like to see more and better provision for parking motorhomes, and I'll be happy to pay the going rate for it. Perhaps some businesses (e.g supermarkets) might provide free or subsidised parking for customers for an hour or two, but that's their business decision.

As for the Councils providing overnight stops, I think that any sites need to be managed and maintained, and numbers controlled. Equally importantly, locals need to see that the charges for overnight stays are realistic and comparable with what local residents themselves pay for living in the area. The equivelant daily rate to that paid by someone on a residential caravan site seems to be a good starting point, to include site charges, maintenance, council tax, admin, security etc. As a local resident I have to pay all these charges (but for a house). I contribute to local businesses by eating out, shopping, going to the cinema and theatre, using sports centres etc. Why don't I get a subsidy for my costs of living in the area because of what I bring to local businesses?

People wild camping over here think if they park somewhere nice they can stay a thew weeks and as long as they get away with it and argue with people until they are forced to move they can all about attitude in France you can stay almost anywhere on an Aire or Car park overnight no problem if you want to stay longer they police these areas n charge small fees nobody says a word to you on stopping overnight apart from good morning over here they say f++k off an get violent when I get caught out finding somewhere to stay over here it’s like parking with one eye open all night I’m full Timing at the moment and stay on cl sites for 3 weeks a time otherwise I’m classed as a gypsy and not welcome ,,

Surely there is a deep irony here. Loads of people trying to 'get away' and find a wild spot..... except they're all going to the same spots. Pretty predictable, surely? If you really want to get away from other people, don't go to the prime tourist areas or wait until the school holidays are over.

There is if you are councillors & can vote on inventions others make & you agree with.
most councils these days are inabited by people with there own agenda. For many ,many years now you would be lucky to find one who is there solely to aid & assist the locals.
Most councils see , bins, lights, road sweeping ,toilets as something to be got rid of so they can squander money on what "they" believe is good for the community.

Fully agree. My biggest bugbear with this site is abbreviations. Will the first poster of any comment using abbreviations please state what it means Oh Please!? Not all of us are as worldly wise as you.

I never at anytime said campsites were dumping rubbish and I never said councils were colluding with tea shops

I disagree, R.N.L.I. unpaid volunteers put their lives at risk to save other lives, the very least they deserve is to find their reserved parking space available for their use when a shout goes out, nowhere to park may prevent the lifeboat from launching at worst due to lack of personnel, or at best launching in any case whilst under resourced.

I live in Carmarthenshire and unless you’re travelling down from Aberystwyth it’s the county you go through to get to Pembrokeshire. In Llanelli there’s a new development of some 600 new houses and it’s on the site of Stradey Park ( rugby enthusiasts will know about Stradey Park). Bordering on this new development is a brand new Primary school. As with everywhere the school is shut. Last week a local traveller family moved onto the school’s car park. There’s a very large tree a out 30 meters from the car park and 10 metres from some of the New houses. The family in the caravan have been using the tree as a toilet in full view of about 60 properties. The locals all decided to contact the council (not really sure who they got hold of, might have been the police). They were expecting some action at the site, and they got it! The council turned up ....... with a portaloo and a means of providing the traveler family with water. The residents who complained were told the travellers were only staying for 2 weeks.
I’m thinking perhaps all the camper vans and Motorhomes in Pembrokeshire should get to the nearest school and park up in the car park.
