A joke about four Kindles (think Ronnie Barker) comes to mind but I guess that might fall flat in the circumstances.

I suspect, if the insurance sorts everything out, you may be in the market for a good internal safe (ours takes all our electronic stuff) and an alarm with an internal siren.

Commiserations. :(

Kids by the sound of it.

Pros won't touch Apple products because of Find My iPhone.

Find My iPhone plus a passcode makes iPads and iPhones worthless to thieves.

I'm sure something similar applies to Android.

That's very sad to hear.

I already have a plan to deal with these little sods if I caught them in the act.

It involves a roll of duck tape; Milenco levelling ramps and reverse gear;)

Very.

As long as your passcode isn't something stupid like 1111 then the iPads are useless to anyone else.

If the CIA and FBI can’t get into them the local Pratt’s won’t.....

Make sure you lock up your fingers they could come back for them, sorry couldn’t resist, you’ll laugh about it in a few years....

We've used this CL a lot, maybe that's the trouble.

Little b*****ds, as you quite rightly say. If you are regulars on the site, do you think you've been targetted? Maybe you've been seen relaxing with iPad/Kindle and some little scroat waited for you to leave the site.

On and off for many years.
Really feel for you.

It's not only the financial loss and having to replace your possessions, the nuisance of having the repair done to the motorhome but mostly the feeling of having your space invaded and despoiled.

Regarding the Apple product's value to a thief...

I found a relatively new iPod outside our house. It was locked, so I couldn't track down the owner from the device. I contacted Apple, asking if THEY could contact the owner to let them know it had been found. NO!

Called the local school to put up a notice in case it was one of the school run who dropped it - no response.
Eventually took it to the police, expecting that if it wasn't claimed within a certain time, I'd get it. NO! The police insisted that "as the device might have personal information on it, it could not be released to me". I remonstrated that NOT EVEN APPLE could unlock the device and expose any data, but still NO! It must be destroyed!

I initiated a complaint (about the policy, but also about the abysmal way I was treated at the police station) insisting that I see evidence that it was in fact destroyed.
NO! (Though I did get a phone call responding to my complaint about rudeness)

So. The devices CAN be reset to factory settings and sold on. Apple will not help with checking serial numbers &c. so the thieves are "safe". Obviously, I'm not in a position to vouch as to whether Apple will allow a stolen device to be registered again, but I wouldn't bet against it.

On my Apple devices, I have some text on the start-up screen: "Reward if found Tel:..../ email:..."

Yes it does! You can also track the device location, lock it down and take a picture of anyone trying to log in. Providing it has been configured correctly which is fairly straight forward.
