Hey,

We have an Vango Idris II Tall airbeam drive-away awning which we'd like to start using with our Chausson Flash 03 MH. Don't fancy the throw over straps and don't have a wind out awning so really looking to get some sort of awning strip installed on the side of the van to attach it to.

Has anyone had one of these fitted to their MH, any tips / advice and can anyone recommend anywhere that would do this sort of work around the Northants area?

Cheers

Rich

We have an Autosleeper Corinium, we do have a wind-out awning, but decided we felt safer if our Kampa Air awning was more firmly attached ! Contacted the manufacturers, Autosleeper, our nearest one being Evesham, and they were more than pleased to help us. They said they knew exactly where the strongest parts of the body are, and it took an hour. We supplied the rail, from Broad Lane Leisure, though I guess any good caravan and motorhome spares place would have it. We didn't want to have a kit form rail, which usually consists of three or more short lengths which have to then be joined, so as our rail needed to be 4metres approx, the rail seems to be in 3metre sections, we have only one join, easier to draw awning through. Perhaps somewhere that services or deals with Chausson would help out ? Rail cost was about £12 per length, Autosleeper charged us an hours labour. It is absolutely perfect, and they assured us that it wouldn't compromise the warranty. Hope this helps, I know some folk have put their own rails on successfully, but not a fan of screwing holes into the van !!! They did screw and glue it on.

No need for screws - I just stuck ours on with Sikaflex (wiped the surface with a bit of meths beforehand to make sure it was clean). We use ours with a tarp rather than an awning so its subjected to plenty of lateral force but 2 years later and its still there solid as a rock (y)
Cost us less than £23 all in - awning rail kit & Sikaflex. The rail kits that come in 3 parts are fine - its very easy to line them up and we don't have any problems pulling the kador strip through.

We stuck our metal awning rail on with Sikaflex 4 years ago,
its still bonded to the van and is as solid as a rock.
Brisey.
