Totally confused myself. We are looking at awnings at the minute. Just want a cheap second hand metal piled type to go on the side of our Ducati 6.4m PVC. We don’t have a Dianna or similar onto which to fix it but have an awning rail attached to the side of our van at 2.35m from the ground. Can anyone please advise. Do we need the high or low versions. I have been looking at one which shows it attached to a PVC but then says maxes attachment height 1.85m. See why I need help. Thanks

If you have an awning rail with a 6mm groove then you can consider a caravan porch awning, you just need to make sure that it’s the correct height. We use a Kampa one but it slides into the roof mounted Fiamma awning.

Thanks. The problem is that the awning is a certain height and then there is the tunnel material. If the awning is too low then in order for the attachment to be in place you are left with no tunnel. A lot of drive away awnings are sold in high or low versions so I suppose it’s just a question of looking which fits. The problem is the type of awning we are looking for is usually an older model so this info is hard to come by.

Motorhoming since 2015......
The awning we have, Sunncamp Swift Canopy 390, fits awning rails between 235 and 250mm from the ground, and looks like this:-

Sunncamp also sell a variation which has a front and mud skirts, costing about £140…..
Of course, this is not a drive-away type…….

Thanks. I know exactly the type we want. The old square pole type. I was looking at the Royale Traveller 3 which looked good but seems to be too low ie built for VW type vans. We had a Spanish Ineva awning similar to the Ventura for our last coachbuilt and are looking for similar for the PVC. Hoping to pick one up quite reasonably but just wanted to be sure of size before we bought it. Thanks

After reading your comments and doing a bit more
On Line research I realise we probably need a standard MotorHome height awning. I am going to put a wanted in classified for an older type square one with poles and see if anyone has one to sell. Thanks again for all your help.

It will be a roof mounted one so the height is around 2.5 m, a Kampa rally awning would fit but it comes with a 6mm bead so you would have to use. Fig. 8 section and a 6 to 4 mm Kadar strip . If you bought the Kampa rally pro which is an air one it comes with both 4 and 6mm beads but it is a lot more expensive.

That sounds good, so the height I'm looking for is 2.5 mtrs, I'll look at your suggestions and let you know how I get on

You will need the one with the range 2.35 to 2.5m which is how Kampa sell them, the actual height on my van is 2.4 at the front and 2.45 at the rear.

Have found a blow up awning with a height of 240/270, will this fit
I would not buy one with that height as you are right on the borderline and will have a lot of skirt at the bottom and may not be able to peg it down properly. It may be better to wait and measure your van to the channel, I have air suspension on the back which is why it’s 2.45, yours could be 2.4 maximum.
