Avtex TV Customer Service

The 18" Avtex TV in the MH packed up (sound but no Picture) a few weeks ago.

Last Friday 11th I called Avtex service dept to see if it could be repaired, the chap gave me some pointers to try and said if they don't work call them back on Monday. The things he suggested didn't work, so I called them on Monday afternoon, within an hour they had sent via email a returns label and arranged for a courier to collect the next day Tuesday 15th. At 11.30 on Wednesday 16th I received a call explaining that the set required a new screen, the cost including collection and deliver would be £146 . I paid over the phone. 2.30 yesterday 17th the TV was returned by the courier, I re-fitted straightway, and all is well.

Not bad service, less than a week from my first contact with Avtex, to being repaired and back working fine. I'm also c£200 better off, I was going to bin it and buy a new one at £349. Happy Days

Pleased you're happy but you could have put £34 pounds to it a got a brand new 24" LG smart TV with Bluetooth.

Yip, Avtex have always been known for their quality of service however at £349 + £146 you could have 2 to 3 similar TVs of alternative brands.

They have lots of practice with customer service because their products often stop working. That’s my personal experience anyway.

Just replaced my 24ins DRS Avtex which the screen was damaged beyond repair during a Hab Check (can't prove it) with an LG 24 in with Freessat Satellite Tuner built in for £180 from Argos - no 12v but simple plug in inverter would get around that. Picture quality beats the Avtex hands down. Threw the Avtex in the bin - good riddance to overpriced rubbish.

but because Avtex cost so much, their customers will always think they have a superior TV than the cheap supermarket offering.

It's similar to those who pay hundreds for a branded SatNav when the cheap/free ones are just as good & effective.

That’s probably right - a sort of tv snobbery.

I have had two in my lifetime ( one purchased and one which came with a new van) and I honestly can’t see what all the fuss is about.

Very similar to holiday snobbery. Spend a fortune (and very long flights) going to some far flung exotic beach destination - is obviously a far better holiday than going to the Costa Del Sol...
Except that they are the Benidorm of other countries...
Bali = Oz
Mauritius = SA
Caribbean = USA
etc etc

No snobbery on my part. The Avtex TV, in fact 2 of them were fitted in the MH when we brought it. I thought £146 was a fair price for what I class as a quality product. We don't spend hour upon hour watching TV so the picture and sound quality are just fine for what we need.
