Interested if anyone is using an Avtex tv with an Avtex soundbar and a Sky+ satellite box and what results they are getting.

I have the above set up as I have just purchased the soundbar, I have the Sky box connected to the HDMI 1 on tv and the soundbar connected to HDMI arc on tv.
When I switch on the tv ( with HDMI selected in the source menu) the sound from the tv comes on but after a couple of seconds when the soundbar kicks into life the sound goes off and to get it back I have to turn off the power to the soundbar ( making it a bit of a waste of space), there is another way I have found and that is when the soundbar kicks in and the sound goes off I can go into the source menu and select another source ie digital tv , then if I switch back to HDMI 1 the sound comes back on through the soundbar and all is fine till the tv is put in standby or switched off , when I switch it back on it reverts to the sound going off when the soundbar kicks in ,
Spoke to Avtex and the guy got me to check various settings on the tv and told me to turn off the dolby sound in the Sky+ menu, he said soundbars don't work with dolby ( works fine with my Panasonic Tv and soundbar in the house), anyway it made no difference . after much complaining that it was not acceptable to keep change the source menu every time I turn the tv on and off, he went away and spoke to someone who said they would collect the soundbar and the tv and check it out with a skybox at there workshop, that was at 10.45 this morning at 12.35 TNT collected them both .
I wait in anticipation :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Don't have an Avtex TV \ soundbar so maybe a stoopit question.
TVs generally have an HDMI CEC \ ARC setting in their, eh Settings Menu. Have you got it turned to "On"?
Obviously, you can't check as it's back at Avtex but ......

Thanks, but that was one of the questions the Avtex guy asked but I had already read the instructions when I set it up and did that

I have a avtex tv & sound bar , when I put the sound bar on the volume on the tv goes off making it almost pointless, looking forward to see how you get on

Is that just when you connect an external source ie Sky box or does it do it when using internal reciever, and how is your soundbar connected to tv ie HDMI , coax etc

Connection via HDMI , I don’t have any connection to the tv from an external source, I have only used DVD so far

Not sure what was wrong with it but it is all working perfectly now, as I said yesterday it was collected at 12.35 and it arrived back today at 12.45, I got a text from DPD this morning saying they would be delivering today, but had no correspondence from Avtex, don't mind that when they fix things so quick, they said on the phone yesterday it could be a software problem but had nothing to say if it was or was not

Hi,
I have this setup, the only reliable connection I found was to connect it with the coax cable from the Avtex tv.
Now works flawlessly.
I found both the Audio return channel AND the 3.5 mm aux and headphones to be unreliable connections.
Never had a drop out with coax.
Made no difference if I used the sky box as the decoder or the internal Avtex decoder.

Hope that helps

Graydo

p.s .
soundbar works great with bluetooth from my phone with Amazon prime, much better sound than the tinny tv speakers.

p.p.s.
Tv sound still works with coax although I don't know why you would want to, soundbar is far superior sound although I suppose you could "blend" the trebly Tv speaker with the bassier soundbox if you were so inclined.

Hi
i have the same problem. When I switch on the soundbar, ARC comes on and the sound goes off… I tried a few things but it didn’t work. Read the post where it was suggested to select another source and then go back to HDMI 1. This works and now sky working through the soundbar.
would be interested to know if there is a permanent fix to this that prevents me having to select a different source and then go back to HDMI 1

We had the same issue with ours.Contacted Avtex and they sorted it.
From memory we sent the tv of to them and it was returned within two to three days.Sorted with permanent fix👍👍
