Do the latest range of Avtex combination TVs play Blu-Ray discs directly, or just DVDs.

I had a feeling that would be the case, when I couldn't see the Blu-Ray symbol on their adverts. As far as I know our recently-purchased Avtex Series 8 doesn't do Blu-Ray, but DVD should be OK.

Especially as Avtex are so expensive ( overpriced) you would have thought they would be blu -ray enabled.I had a feeling that would be the case, when I couldn't see the Blu-Ray symbol on their adverts.
Wouldn't you think they would move with the times, especially considering that Blu-Ray will play DVD, but not vica versa.

I emailed them earlier asking that very question of them.Sure the next release may well have BluRay. I don't think there'd be much demand yet.
I

Then cello traveller is for you. Not megabucks like the overated avtex . Avtex made in Asia cello made in UK no contest.I've got no plans to go back down the satellite route. Had Roadpro system on the last van, which was excellent, but only used by the boss lady.
I'm happy getting occasional weather forecasts if I get a signal and being able to watch a film (DVD/BRay) on an evening, if the weather closes in.
I'm led to believe that Cello have come on leaps and bounds, but my first ever 12v Cello from my caravanning days was enough to leave a sour taste. Then cello traveller is for you. Not megabucks like the overated avtex . Avtex made in Asia cello made in UK no contest.
The cello traveller is brilliant view from any angle. .nice clear screen and now WiFi. .so you can have a sound bar and listen to music etc outside .I'm led to believe that Cello have come on leaps and bounds, but my first ever 12v Cello from my caravanning days was enough to leave a sour taste.

It's probably my loss, but on principle, I won't go back to Talk Talk, Vauxhall or Cello, amongst several other companies that have dropped below par in the past. The cello traveller is brilliant view from any angle. .nice clear screen and now WiFi. .so you can have a sound bar and listen to music etc outside .
I understand what you are saying. And for the exact same reasons I would never buy avtex again. .back up service is great but products fall very much below the price quality .It's probably my loss, but on principle, I won't go back to Talk Talk, Vauxhall or Cello, amongst several other companies that have dropped below par in the past.
I'm not knocking any of their current products, just once bitten, twice shy.

Being a Luddite and being without a home computer or laptop at the moment, I can't think of a way to transfer my DVDs on to memory stick. You can load films onto a memory stick, which then plugs into Avtec, saves weight and bulk of DVD 's
