We usually have little time so we tend to rush to where we want to go.

When I have more time it will be a 55-60mph job.

I am driving the car down to Spain at the weekend and I will be in a hurry.

Good luck and have a great time Chris, whatever the speed!(y)

Just below 70 on French autoroutes when we want to crack on. I don't feel comfortable overtaking at much more than 70 as it all begins to wobble and in my head Scotty's telling me the engines cannae take it.

The rest of the time it's 60ish for fuel economy and relaxation.

We generally travel at about 60. I did have a spate of 65-70, but after just doing 600 miles at around 60, I realised that I had saved a lot of fuel!
Just for info for those of you travelling down to Dover along the M20, there are average speed cameras on the approach to the port now.....

Sit at a steady 70 on dual carriageways ,I reckon she'll be flat out at 88 .

I read somewhere that an optimum speed was about 58 for economy. I have watched the fuel consumption display and it seems about right for my 2.3 multijet 130 but I am sure it will vary a lot according to the engine size and mapping.
Being retired and not crammed in to a minimal time slot, I focus on economy for long drives.

I set the cruise to 70 or slightly over. In a previous job I drove hgvs so have had my fix of sitting at 56 mph for hours on end. We used to have a caravan too and one of the bonuses of motorhomes is not being limited to 60.

Almost a Newbie but not quite now.
Travel mostly at 55 to 60. Speed up to pass the odd truck but normally chill out and go with the flow. Here in France and Spain the trucks pass you without problems.

On and off for many years.
Because , as I want to spend a maximum of time with my funsters friends, I leave as late as possible ... and work next morning, most of the time!
Luckily we don't have a fixed time or place of work :)
