We arę hoping to motorhome in Italy this Sept. Oct. and would like to include Romę. We're not members Of any clubs yet (cept this). Any advice or high recommendations would be avidly followed as weve only ever done Spain and Portugal. Ghański folks.

Rome - watch out for pick pockets esp on underground. We used Camping Tiber.

Essential - Villa d'Este outside Rome, finest water gardens in Europe. Nearby Nero's Villa, not visited but Chippendale did and got his best designs from there.

Essential Sorrento taking in Pompeii and Herculaneum by train.

Essential Garda, Pesciera del Garda. Good for boats and trains, to Venice is easy.

If close to Pisa then Camping Torre Pendante is within walking distance of the tower, it's alright.

Essential Florence magnificent and on a manageable scale.

During the month of September a small town in the north called Monselice holds entertaining events. These vary from it's a knockout style games between various local teams to medieval festivals and folk making bread, clothes and wine in the traditional ways. We have been twice and enjoyed the visits. Ask at tourist info and they will tell you about a small boatyard with ehu in the Center of town where you can stay safely for a modest fee. Trains to Venice stop in the town, well recommended.

September and October will be the grape harvest or vendemmia. Entering "agriturismo" in the search field of CamperContact with site name selected, not city, lists them. Here they are on a map.

There are a few more than the image show because if you zoom in others appear. Of course, which are vineyards as opposed to pig farms I don't know, you would have to investigate each on in turn in the app and read any reviews. Sadly, a lot of them don't have reviews so you wouldn't know what to expect but site code 22548 is on a vineyard. Of course you might be roped in to help if you turned up during the harvest..... :)
