Hi Guys,
Looking for a bit help from you tech folk,
Does anyone know where the rear built in camera picks its live feed up from? Iv'e crawled under the rear of the van but can't see any obvious cables.
I can't even see where the 'signal' cable is fed from the back of the van to the dashboard.
Reason i'm asking is so that i can put an ignition 'live' to the camera so it can be on permanently while driving.
thanks
Kev

I think the feed is from the top of the van - possibly the high-level tail light. But be cautious about making it permanently on as some cameras will 'burn-in' as they are designed for occasionally and brief use not as a surveillance camera.

Both point supposition on my part (having done something similar to my last Caravan) but having an AT Frontier Delaware myself currently I'd appreciate you posting details if you manage it and it works out fine for you!

Thanks Ian,
I've bought a 'rear view mirror kit' but using the original camera.it works great compared to the 2" screen on the crap radio,I'll have a crawl around at some point & see if i can find the camera live feed.
will post if i find it.

I'm looking to do similar - I need the GPS functionality most of the time on the radio screen so wanted a separate mirror screen for a camera. Been considering a second camera though in case the reversing camera created an issue! Which mirror screen did you get?

It was just one of those cheap chinese things on e-bay,cost about £27.50 for the kit, signal cable was only 6meters (longer cables available seperatley) long so i used the existing cable which was already plugged into the radio, then just needed to power the screen up,
Must say , i'm impressed with the picture quality.

Update; power to the camera is fed from reverse lights(orange wire in my MH). The cables all go into the overhead locker where the sargent unit is.There's a 'false' floor in the cupboard & all the cables are under there. All working fine a great picture & all for under £28.00..

Thanks for the info Kev.

Which model of MH do you have - I have the Delaware with the Sargent unit in the Cupboard above the offside lounge seat - is that similar to yours. I assume you changed the power from the reverse lights then to keep it powered when the ignition is on?

Where did you take the feed from?

Also when you connected the mirror monitor was the cable (originally to the radio head) through the roof space then down the pillars or from under the dash?

Appreciate your feedback!

Hi Ian,i have the cherokee, sargent ec328 in the same place as yours. Yes,i cut the power feed from the reverse lights(orange cable) then took an ignition live from the radio to feed the live for the camera. Now it works when the ignition is switched on. The power lead out of the mirror monitor isn't quite long enough to reach the fuse box so extended it a bit,The 'signal' lead that comes with the kit can be used to join the existing 'signal' lead(that goes into the radio) to the new monitor. I traced all the original cables across the dash, past the fuse box on drivers side then down behind the trim between the floor & step-well.hope this all makes sense.
