Hi Folks

The manual for my Sargent EC 700 shows a 'Smart' charge button on the screen - but I don't have one on my actual panel - only the option of selecting the Habitation Batt or the Vehicle Batt. This wasn't an issue for the last year of travel, but after being in storage I found the Hab Batt was fine but the Vehicle Batt was so low it needed a jump to start the engine. I had to swap the selection between the Hab and Vehicle on the panel several times over the last month to make sure the solar kept both batts charged.

I've had no response from Sargent on the matter so wonder if anyone else has had this issue or is there a setting on the EC700 I can change to reveal the extra 'Smart' button on the screen?

Cheers

Ian--Just found that out in March also on our Autotrail -To keep Vehicle battery charged up- I must select That Button on control panel AND therefore must have the panel switched on & leave on- then the Charger will bring it back to a good voltage/ I really did think that once the Hab battery was FULL it would swap over to the Starter battery automatically or vice versa !? Not so. During this long 'lockdown period' & with spare time a plenty I bought a Small 6amp 12/24 smart charger [with pulse repair mode] from Fleebay -- and I can leave it connected permanently...So far so good.

Yes, I know the panel must be on - but the 'Smart' button that should appear on the Power settings screen simply doesn't. Cheers David.

I was in the middle of email correspondence with them when they told me to go find the software version installed in the van so they could help me further. Since I replied there has been silence back. I'll see what I get on Monday and take it from there.

I had heard (anecdotal) stories a from a guy on a campsite in Zaragosa that there was some sort of magic touch (press button a and then b at the same time and stand on one leg) to bring up a further settings screen to add the smart button - thought a Funster might have heard of it! LOL
