Last year one of the large side windows ( including the horizontal top hinge which secures it to the body of the vehicle) fell out whilst being opened. Only the side stay arms prevented the whole thing crashing to the ground. I was abroad at the time and managed to do a temporary fix , but haven't opened it since. The problem is that the screws securing the hinge to the body are very small and over time (NB the motorhome is 18 years old), the screw holes wear and get bigger, with the result that the hinge becomes ever looser. Before I embark on implementing a cunning plan to remedy the problem (which I have yet to formulate !), has anyone got any experience of this issue and/or can they suggest how best to deal with the matter ? Thanks.

The screw holes need filling.
Pick a good day (or two) weatherwise.
Buy box of matches. Get some PVA wood glue. Take off match head and coat sufficient of match, push into screw hole. Cut off flush and repeat, sharpening each match if necessary and tapping them into each screw hole with hammer until each hole full of pva coated matches.
Leave to set. (Stick window in place with tape if you feel is needed). Leave overnight.
Following day, screw window back in place, using one size up screws if appropriate.

Thank you Emmit. That sounds like a plan and I think I'll probably tape the hinge as well for a bit of added security.
