We stayed in the one by the sports centre for 3 nights recently. It's listed as parking for motorhomes and has free services. There were no barriers, signs or management of the site. It was busy on the weekend as you would expect but very quiet considering the number of vans. What on earth do they expect though if they provide a huge carpark like this right by the metro station? If they regulated the space and had a time limit for staying/charged a nominal fee it would be a great asset and would get rid of the ones who had set up a permanent camp there. Such a shame as we spent quite a lot of money in the city that weekend and there are very limited campsite options or other options that we felt suitable security wise or with the dog.

I think the picture above tells the story all too well.
Awnings, chairs, BBQ's out and any overstayers dont do themselves any favours, lets face it, we are supposed to be tourers, not statics for weeks on end, that is campsite behaviour.
48 hours max should be enough, more space then for others that are Touring, especially in the high season.
This is the thin edge of the wedge I feel for all of us that just want to stop for the night, or two at a push.

We will not be suprised if Mazarron take similar action, the current situation is not sustainable, I imagine the police will be using the laws recently passed which will come into force within the next month.
Mazarron isn't big, the Police force isn't either, so timing will become an important factor....for example....when most northern Europeans have left, measures could be put into place to prevent the same situation next season.....its a sorry state we all find ourselves in just now, lets hope the opening of Morocco will happen soon..this remains a major reason for such overcrowding..

Morocco opens to flights on Monday, it's not clear what's happening with ferries.

Sadly l believe the 'best' times for wildcamping in Europe as well as the UK are in the past not helped by those who are both ignorant and selfish when it comes to flagrantly breaches of the unwritten rules. It really is a shame.

No surprise really, this appears to be a problem with the sudden influx of new "motor-homers" who don't appear to have any idea of the use of aires etc, of course if you start to set up awnings, bbq's etc, you are camping and aires are not intended as campsites and never have been. If you like to be surrounded by other vans, find a campsite and leave the aires to the people who respect them and use them as they are intended, and leave them as you find them.

Internet is the biggest cause,,seems every other post on Facebook is about touring Europe in a motorhome..BUSBY.

I once foolishly took a photo of the Spanish Police moving a couple of campavans on near Bilbao ..woooah silly me!
I was told to stop then frogmarched back to my own van and told to produce passports, vehicle documents etc etc and then left to stew for 20 minutes before they handed these back to me along with a rather firm b******ing and told never to take photos of the police again...think l learnt my lesson.

Agree..but this year the numbers are totally out of control....here in Murcia we are expecting action to put an end to this behaviour...our neighbouring Municipality is Mazarron...they have introduced a law which will be enforced in time...

Oh dear

Same everywhere in Spain this Winter, police moved over 100 campers off Palomares Beach last week, within 2 days they were back. Total disregard for the Police. Dont think it is just Morrocco maybe the fact they have clamped down on Portugal. We have noticed many more van life motorhomes about this year too. No disrespect to them but some of them are rather untidy.
