Not sure where we are going yet after Austria - probably Switzerland, but we are travelling with young kids so don't want to drive more than 3 hours at a time. Any advice on stops/places to see welcome.

on our way back from Italy last year we had a break down and 3 days stuck at a garage in the alps, when we finally got away we just headed for any site we could find around innsbruck and ended up at Camping Innsbruck, Natterer See.

What a find that was!!!

Campingplatz Seecamp, Zell am See. By no means cheap, but it's a lovely spot and the site has good facilities including a restaurant. Lakeside cycle tracks/paths between the site and the town. All very tranquil.

Near Innsbruck there's the serviceable Schwimbadd campsite at Hall in Tirol which has lower cost MH pitches both inside and outside but you wouldn't go there for the scenery.

Just inside S Germany on Lake Konstanz/Bodensee there's Campingpark Gohren am Bodensee which has aire type parking by the entrance and decent facilities inside, plus private access to the lakeside. We passed through the area briefly last autumn and liked it so much we're heading back there later this year.
