Austria campsites piped gas (1 Viewer)

Hope someone can give a definitive answer to this.
currently in Austria and the campsite offers has hookup, however as I understand it they use a 50mbar pressure. Would this damage the 30mbar regulator that I have on the van?
My logic says no as that is what it is designed to do, but could do with someone who has first hand knowledge.

Regulators are designed to reduce pressure so you should be ok.

The simple answer is don’t try and run a 50 mbar regulated supply into your 30 mbar regulator.
The reason is that your 30 mbar regulator is designed to operate at something like 0.3 Bar (300 mbar ) to 16 Bar ( 16000 mbar )
The 30 mbar regulator is designed to hold back a substantial pressure but it’s not very good at dealing with the tiny difference between 50 mbar and 30 mbar , you will almost certainly have low pressure to your appliances ( it might work) but not correct.
What you should do is to feed the 50 mbar supply into a reducer to 30 mbar to a tee fitted after your existing regulator.

Perfect answer thank you. I did try it and exactly what you mentioned happened, hardly any supply. Trying to locate a reducer in Austria now. Thank you so much for your help.

when we was in Austria on the gas supply we had the site regulator and pipe and fed our motorhome via our external gas BBQ point
And no it didn’t fill our bottles as our regulator must have a one way valve but I might have tried it

You wouldn't have got much in anyway.

Gas bottles contains liquid gas....the site pipework will contain pressurised gas vapour.
