Asymmetry, thats a funny word :-).
Basically motorhome dealers know all, and we the users only know part of the story, thats the edge that the dealers have.

We see the RRP/ Windscreen price, but only the dealer and the buyer know the actual price, and its very tricky to find out what actual selling prices of s/h m/h's.

It would be an awesome resource if Funsters actually fessed up actual buying and selling prices with full specs. These could be fully anonymous. Then Funsters would have as much info as the dealers, and help establish fairer prices.

On another note is there a trade guide to second-hand prices such a the motor car trade handbook Glasses

Personally I think there's too many variables with motorhomes for such a list to be of merit.

It’s the way of the world and applies pretty much to all items bought/sold.

I believe there might be, and possibly produced by Glasses - but not absolutely certain.

If there is a Glasses or similar it will only be available to the trade. I used to buy and sell a few cars and got hold of a Glasses because my brother was in the trade.

Unlike say a car, a guide wouldn't allow for seasonal (i.e. summer vs winter) price fluctuations.
The internet makes researching and comparisons a lot easier for everything one needs to purchase, granted it will only show asking prices, except eBay where you can see the actual purchase price.
Surprise! Every car I've wanted to sell has happened to be very common and the less desirable colour, engine size, specification etc., and the one I want to buy has always been the most popular model and very scarce.

When trading in my last van the trade-in price was the same from 2 or 3 dealers, no-one actually looked in the van or was interested in any add-ons. Dealers offer trade-ins online so no reason why you cannot benefit from their knowledge that way.

In reality a motorhome with only worth what somebody will buy it for. There is equality when dealing with dealers. You don't know what their real lowest price they would sell it for, and they don't know your real highest price you would buy it for.

Depends how you approach them, if you Go in and you want to pay around 20 grand or whatever , suddenly anything below twenty grand will increase in price but anything above won't come down.

That's why I used the word "real", when describing the amount, rather than the figure quoted by each side at the beginning.
