Asus laptop start up (1 Viewer)

Hi all I have a Asus X541N
On start up if I do on battery full charge or half charge it just goes off. But if I start up on 240volt it will work as normal and run fine.
If I then unplug it will run for hours on battery. confused not too technical Answers please old timer with a slow brain.

How old is it?
I know little about computers but it sounds to me that when you start it on battery the power surge on start-up (i.e. when loading all the progs) drops the battery voltage and causes the computer to shut down (as designed for when the battery is low).
Once it has started up on 240v and the initial surge has passed the (elderly?) battery can maintain the required voltage when the 240v is no longer present.

Sometimes it will start on battery and run for about 10 mins then just drop out.

Find the error code it generated at the date and time it shut off then have agoogle of the code.
find the code by going to my pc
right click it and choose "manage"
then in there find "event viewer"
click the drop down so then you can see "Windows logs"
Then "system"

doube click system and see loads of errors (dont worry about them all there will be lots)
just scroll through the list and find the exact tme and date it caused the problem and see what the error code is, and a description. Google it...... Will possibly tell you battery failure or something. Or could even be a small update patch needed.

I’ve just renewed mine and got new lease of life.

Tryed to sort it clicked off at 19.50 on th the 28 Aug.
But found no errors for that date.

The battery check programmme shows 84% capacity which is ok.

I'm getting a feeling that it may be a hardware problem but ....

Other things to try first -

• check to see if there are any ACPI driver updates
  • Press Windows key + X
  • Click Device Manager
  • Expand Batteries
  • Right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System
  • Choose Update Driver Software
  • Make sure you are connected to the Internet, the check for updates
• check ASUS website to see if there area any BIOS or chipset driver updates
  • make sure you select the exact model version
  • download and follow instructions on ASUS website
• you could try a power off \ on trick that sometimes works
  • when running on battery (no mains power \ adapter cable attached)
  • press and hold down the power button for around a minute (laptop should power off after a few seconds but keep the button pressed down)
  • release the button
  • plug in your mains power \ adapter cable
  • restart your laptop

After that I'm probably stumped and it's a repair shop job!
