@Btg Sorry if this sounds a bit duff, but are you sure you are on the satellite and not on terrestrial television ?

nowhere near long enough
You must have either a de coder or a television that has built in freesat if you can answer this then we may be able to help

Please do not so many do and confuse free sat with free view

What he said. If you are watching satellite, then you must have a decoder, either built in to the telly, or free standing.

And walking about in the van won't affect it.
Something passing in front of the dish will....a tree branch etc.

You could be right there.

I remember having a similar issue a few moths ago, the first time we had used our satellite system for quite a while. It turned out to be the scart lead at the base of the TV, which has worked it's way loose, over a period of the TV being swung in and out of the TV cabinet. A quick push in of the plug restored normal service. (y)

Good luck,

Jock. :)

11yrs, but many years a tugger.
Possibly the cable if all the channels are poor reception, but not the reason to not receive BBC.

Methinks there is confusion here. So please go back to the beginning and confirm whether you are using a tv ariel or a satellite dish. :)

Do you mean Freesat, (joint BBC & ITV service) or Free To Air (FTA)? Either way, we all assumed that you were already connected to a satellite receiver.

I was connected to an FTA receiver, when experiencing the same problem as you initially described, and getting some channels, but not all. Once the scart lead was inserted fully, problem solved. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Spent a whole day fiddling with wires pulling my hair out trying to sort out why our satellite system gave an intermittent 'snowy' picture.
Wifes phone (Sony)ran flat and heypresto. . Clear picture. My Samsung phone seems to have no effect !
As a bonus she can't use her phone whilst I'm watching my films.

So basically, as someone said in the first reply ( errrrr.. me LOL !! ) You were indeed using the sat dish to get terrestrial telly then ?

I remember having a similar issue a few moths ago . . .

So maybe it's the moths then  ! They can be such a nuisance if they flit around the dish. I suggest you turn all lights off and get your wife to stand about 30 yards away with a torch to attract them there, whilst you watch HD tv in comfort :)

SORRY couldn't resist. It's off to the naughty step for me. You can't threaten me with being sent to Coventry 'cos I'm a Coventrian:LOL: Play up Sky Blues!

@Stretto Boy.

I wouldn't mind so much, but you haven't even quoted me correctly.

The words from "So" through to "Blues!" never left my keyboard matey. ;)

Re the moths, we don't have that problem in this part of the East Midlands, despite varying nationalities. You probably do in your part though.

Cheers,

Jock. ;)
