My brother is restoring an old Lambretta and needs a small gearbox part to finish it.
After over a years search between us we have located one.....in Milan.(n)

They want him to send the bit to Milan as there are four types which he will not do coz if its lost in the post he is fudged.

The favour -

Is there anyone journeying down to the Gib/Cadiz area anytime soon that could bring it down to me please.
He will post it in the UK. It is very light so will not upset anyones payload.(y)

Standing by by for any comments, (sensible or otherwise).

Kevin

Why not send them lots of pictures by email..?

Is it an expensive part..?

Hi,

Thanks but we have done that. The Italian will not do anything until he actually sees it.

Kev

PS. He also offered to buy all of the variants, but they wouldnt do that either.
They only have one in stock of one of them and dont trust the Italian postal system with it.:giggler:

I was going to suggest buy all of them... keep the correct one and sell the others on eBay..

Strange Italian won't sell you all the variants..make him an offer he can't refuse..this formula works for the Italian Mafia..

Could the part be made by an engineering firm over here...
Maybe youve already considered that possibility?
Andy

Brother is an engineer by trade, unfortunately it has a couple of internal bits and cant be done.
Kev

What part is needed ?

Apparently its an outer ring bearing with needle rollers??? The bike is from the 70s and its a very strange size.
He has been to someone who specialises in classic bits inc bearings and they had never seen one like it before.

I have a customer/friend who restores Lambretta's I could pass on his number to you if you'd like ?

I restore old bikes. Surely he can determine the identity from a parts list for his model?
Maybe he's looked but here's just a couple of many options for parts lists/diagrams/suppliers from Google which he can download....

Has he contacted an Owners Club for help?

I use the following for bearings for Italian, Spanish and E. European bikes. They are very knowledgeable and helpful:

Thanks all for your help. I will pass on everything for him to look at.
Kev

Maybe send it through a 3d printer then get that sent off to an engineering firm

I'm going to Cadiz in December....

Used to drive a LD but progressed to a Li150 .

Now moved on to a 911 . :)
