I have a 2018 ASCI card and the books but I'd much prefer an app that'd tell me the campsites near where I am without getting the books out an leafing through them.

I gather that I have to pay £3.59 for the CampingCard ACSI-app but there is also the option to pay an extra £5.49 for motorhome pitch information.

Does anyone have the Motorhome Pitch Information app and if so what extra does it give you and is it worth the money?

Do you have a link for that app? I can only find the standard camping card app, I have (or had) the 2017 app and found it very useful.

Go here, put the number in from your ASCI card then hit sen. That will take you to the page where you can select the Motorhome Pitch Information option.

I took a chance and splashed out eight quid on the app including the Motorhome Pitch info.

I don't know what info was available without the 'extra' but it's much the same as what's in the books except there are reviews to see from other visitors.

Some reviews are several years old some a bit more up to date.. not all are in English.

What a shame, looking on the Vicarious Books site it looks like the DVD is no longer available. That was fantastic because on a laptop screen you could see so much at once.

There are some old German ones on ebay at very silly money.

I downloaded the app to my laptop, it works much better than on my phone, (in fact I uninstalled it from the phone).

If I know where I'm going I'll have researched some sites. If I just fancy stopping enroute it'd be nice to have an app on my phone to tell me what's available nearby.

The standard app on my phone worked alright for me last year - think I'll start with the new standard one for 2018 and see how it works out.

It's £5.49 extra for the motorhome pitch info app. I'm just wondering is this app useful or not.

OK - I'm suffering from ££££ shock right now, I just paid over £16 to fill up my little bike, I saw petrol and near £1.40 on the M1 yesterday. Money is starting to look worthless right now, so forgive my little joke.

I'm getting the impression ASCI are out to milk us for all we are worth, I suppose you still have to buy the discount card as well as the app.

Yes. ACSI though charge the site to be in their guide then charge us for using the guide. Then when we get to site we pay the site so they can pay ACSI.

Forgive the ASCI above, old computer people grew up with ASCII.

I'm not suggesting that the app didn't work well on the phone, but on my GPS enabled laptop it was a better app to use than on a small phone screen.

I've email ASCI and asked them what the advantages of the Motorhome Pitch Information app is over the normal Campingcard ASCI app. I'll post what they tell me here when they reply.

I bought our first ASCI guide, card and app and from what I have seen is well worth the €20 or £18 I paid as we will likley make the cost back in under a week when away and the physical books will come in handy too (y) I'm interested to know what the Motorhome Pitch Information app is though :wondering:

An anomaly with the pricing also is that it is cheaper to buy the individual groups rather than the whole !

I also am wondering why the camper add on bit is so thanks for pursuing this

Yo folks. I have just downloaded the motorhome app and still not sure of the difference. A screen shot shows motorhome Parkings. Is this included in the basic version?

A reply from ASCI;

The CampingCard ACSI application informs you of campsites that accept the CampingCard ACSI card in Europe.

The application for mobile home shows you addresses with a description for one night with your mobile home. These sites are not a campsite. These are parking areas for Mobile home.

I have the latest app(s) on my Windows 10 laptop, there is no mention of sites just for motorhomes at all.

It has all the ACSI discounted campsites, and that's all, I have emailed them asking for some sort of explanation.

ASCI's Motorhome Pitch Information app is a separate app from its Camping Card app.

That's what I'm trying to determine I've paid for two apps... but can only find the one they directed me to.
