Depends on condition and price . We have an Arto 2004 6.9 meter with a 2.8 jtd engine , we have owned it since 2008 and have never thought about changing . We have found it underpowered but are quite happily poodling about with a top speed of 60mph . Have good look at the shower tray . Check windscreen for chips/cracks .

It will be the 2.8 IDTD engine with the 5th gear issues, so need to research/look into that.

Apart from that the other things to look for specific to this van are shower tray as said, double glazed glass cab side windows failing which cost an arm and a leg unless you do it yourself, water ingress into garage although that model does not have a garage.

Other usual checks need to be done too.

Cracking construction of the van, unlikely to have any damp due to this.

If in good condition then a top purchase.

Fitting solar panel is easy, and don't worry about drilling roof of you can't do it any harm then just stick on a waterproof gland box and put all cables through. The roofs are not prone to leaks in my experience but check the seal of the front cap to roof as it is a bonded joint and then taped over, the roof side joints have a cap over the joint and sealed down so again you can check this but with an all alluminuim construction a little leak causes no harm anyway.

At that age, check if anyone at all still stocks any of the special windscreens for it. If not, it could potentially write off the entire vehicle if the screen gets cracked.
