Hi all.
Just saying hello, joined up after lurking for a while to see how the land lay.
We are refugees from sailing, having had a couple yachts, and in the process learning an awful lot about 12v systems and maintenance for same, we‘ve also had a fair melange of campervans and motorhomes in the past too - ranging from an V6 ex-police riot van, a v8 sherpa van to a Hymer with bunk beds, which we took to Europe a couple times, all of this was 12 years ago though - and after 6 years of nautical fun recently, we decided that we needed a change.
So we let the boat go and started looking around for something to continue our passion for travelling in, after an awful lot of looking we stumbled across an F70, which whilst (opinions I am aware are very mixed about) seemed to us to be the ideal layout and size for the next three years whilst we approach retirement and give us the opportunity to try things out with all the advances in technology that enjoyed installing in the boat.
The last time we had a motorhome, solar was not really a viable option, lithium batteries were not a thing and working from the van was nigh on impossible, now (and using my experience aboard) all that seems to have changed, huge strides ahead in liveability and comfort seem to have been made. We pick up the van in two weeks time and post inspection snagging aside - I am looking forward to making it how I want it, little tweaks here and there to enhance life onboard.
Looking forward to perhaps doing the odd rally, for us (after spending so much time anchoring rather than in marinas) we will prefer the smaller sites, aires (or whatever is the preferred name) and possible dare I say it, the odd (not so) wild camp. It‘s for us, not so important to have EHU - we’ve got used to being ‘off grid’ insofar as you can be at anchor, so making the motorhome self sufficient is as mentioned quite a big thing for us and am looking forward to perusing this forum for up to date info.
Cheers all.
