Looks like need to book a CMHC campsite however I notice check in is 12 noon. However we have an event at starts at 12.30pm so ideally need to be there closer to 11am.
Has anyone turned up an hour or so earlier and been turned away? or have I nothing to worry about.

You need to talk to the site, we were told "YOU ARE EARLY" "WAIT THERE' and the was after asking if it would be OK to arrive early and being told "yes" as again we had an appointment.

Well just rang Ferry Meadows at Peteroborugh and was told a Resounding NO under no circumstances even if space available. Was having non of it :-( I am a member of C&CC and never had this issue but I was told about CMHC had strict rules hence the query. She just kept referring to the CMHC rules no flexibility. So disappointing will have to look further out which is a royal pain in the.... as I need to be in Peterborough centre for 12-12.30pm. Such a shame no wonder some people hate the club. Told her straight I was thinking of joining however whats the point !.

Could you arrive the day before your appointment if they have a pitch?

One reason for the 12 noon check in on CMC Sites is that staff are unavailable to check in early arrivals between 10 and 11-30ish as they are cleaning the toilet blocks, laundry and washing up areas.

We arrived early at Ferry Meadows on 8th July and as the site is split into east and west across the main road they let us in, and two or three vans before us, so as not to block the road with the queue. I can understand the rules to some extent that they have other duties to carry out and letting those in early who have taken the trouble to call first can lead to problems with others in the queue but there's usually four on duty so maybe a bit of leaway. But where do they draw the line?

Have you tried asking the organisers to move your event back a couple of hours?

More chance of that perhaps than getting the C&MC to change its Rules

Have they got a late arrivals area where you can wait until the morning, I believe that you are allowed in before 12in those circumstances, just read your earlier message. You would have had to pay for the night though

Another reason is that access roads are sometimes limited and people arriving early cause problems for those leaving late morning.
We stayed on the Clumber Park site last week (tend not to use full CMC sites but it was handy). Leaving around 11.30 we ended up having to give way to a whole stream of caravans coming in - I suppose they may have all been together of course but they caused me a delay.
Like it or not, rules are made for a reason, even if you don't see it. But it's a free world, if you don't like it you can always take your business elsewhere.

Seems that you can wild camp in part of Ham Lane, just around the corner from the CMHC site, if you are into wild camping!! Bing maps shows quite a few mohos and lorries taking advantage of the lack of facilities!

It's £7.10 per adult and £7.30 for the pitch how cheap would you like it to be given the facilities available to you? There are 244 touring pitches, not exactly a small site. Ahh I see your from Halifax. Sorry, now I understand. Personally I would have gone over the night before and had a nice relaxing evening. What if you're held up in traffic or other delays? Enjoy your event but RULES IS RULES !!! Mike

You can park motorhomes (though not stay overnight) at the Council Car Park in Brook Street Peterborough PE1 2TU. Could you go there, visit your event and then go to the Ferry Meadows site afterwards? You would need to be at the site for 8.00 pm or stay in the late arrivals area.

I would if the event was not a Gin Festival lol, need to be able to park up and leave it. One reason we are going in the afternoon and not evening sessions so I can drive the following day.....
