I would like to visit Arras war memorial, Aire / campsite near by, if I have to stay on commercial site, so be it. This visit important to me. I am going tomorrow 1st Sept last port of call, before home. So any help appreciated.
It is an easy walk to town centre
Filled up late afternoon, however, many motorhomes parked on street outside with no issues
Despite being close to town no issues driving to it
As stated above arrive early to get a place on the aire. I stayed there 2 months ago. Very pleasant city. There is also a tour of the caves below the town hall which I found interesting.
Currently there. There is one space inside the aire. Me and a n other brit are in the cul de sac at the bottom of the road. One french parked across the cul de sac. One on the pavement. Loads of cars here for work so they will disappear about 1800 so you can park on pavement then. Market day tomorrow so will be busy. Don't block any gates. We will move after lunch (rollerteam) and have good parking out of the aire if you want to reserve our place. La grand place is just a fairground atm. That space has just gone !
Update : another space available. There were 2 but we have now moved in there so we might go or we might stay for the market. There was also some creative parking against green fence inside the aire last night. At least 3 vans in there. It also looks like the huge niesmann bischoff thing is getting ready to go
If you have the time, the Carriere Wellington WW1 tunnels are a bit different and worth a look. Close to Arras centre.
I'm pretty certain they have a big son et lumiere show in the town square on the first weekend of September. They did a couple of years ago when we went to the Braderie de Lille up the road.
Saw your van and am booked in for wellington at 1400. The light and sound looks like it is being set up outside the tourist information in the second biggest square today. If you're quick you can see the attractive girl with builders bum putting it up
