Hi, ive not long bought an Aronld , the one mentioned in another post, forerunner to RMB, it is in need of some tlc, in my mind anyway but the chassis is solid along with the body if you knowedable people dont mind i may be asking some questions about this beastand hopefully you may be able to help, ive read up on this topic http://arnoldfreunde.de/html/arnold_reisemobile.html and i understand they are old, they do however seem to be really solid in build, well from what ive since in my new but old purchase, im one happy new old owner of a Arnold :)

Hi mines listed as a 409D engine is listed as OM602, this info is in the service book i have, it is 5 speed so im curious that you mention 310D as 5 speed, maybe im missing something here? its a 86 model. I like the look of your Arnold, i havent taken pics yet apart from the one that was posted here whilst it was on ebay.

That will outlive a few Swifts, won't it.

What an overhang, careful in the petrol stations.

Hi thought id post a bit of an update on my Arnold, you can see above how it looked last year, my main muck up was not taking pics properly of "the before and after type" any way i hope you can follow it, i only have these pics of the inside and here it is.
008.jpg
006.jpg
007.jpg
009.jpg

ok the floor was carpeted in a brown, the wood was faded"but doesnt really show in the pics" and the kitchen area only had a combined two burner hob with a small sink, on the same side a bit further back was a micro oven , "if you can see the net curtain on the left " its by there.

1st job was too get most of the kitchen out including the fridge as that wasnt working and the micro oven.
005.jpg

006.jpg
012.jpg
011.jpg
010.jpg

ok i sourced a 2nd hand fridge, bought a sink, hob, oven, and wood for the work surface, i had to insulate the oven are and enlarge the hole for it to fit.
014.jpg
003 (5).jpg
20181028_145151.jpg
I then flated back all the wood and restained/varnished it, pics dont really show the differnce so ill keep it to a minimum .
003.jpg
004.jpg
007.jpg
I move on to the floor and the dining seating area,
005.jpg
006 (3).jpg
under the carpet was the original lino :) but that was coming up too,
015.jpg
I took out the engine so i could change out the rocker cover gasket/sump gasket,
016.jpg
006.jpg
I took the carpet lining the sides of the dinette seating area of as well,
002 (3).jpg
I also took the carpet out of the dash area, it was faded and the colour was probably good in its day but it was time for a change,
010.jpg
018.jpg
Ok this is what the new lino, wood sides to the dinette and dash carpet looks like now,

20181028_145119.jpg

And so I moved on to the outside, the pics further will show the Blue Genie, the gold pinstrip and weathered bronze type colour pin striping and weathered sills and front and back bumpers, I was able to remove all the genie bar his red part shown here,
007.jpg
011.jpg
so i painted this white and covered with new burgundy and grey pin striping, I also painted the sills grey along with the front and back bumpers,

And thats about it for now, many thanks for taking the time to look through all this and i hope it may inspire some to be bold and buy old ones :)
