Yes please. Oh and meanwhile why donā€™t you have ago at sorting out the speed limits, our the economic policies....

Well, don't know about the above, but the Gov. stated policy of forcing care home residents to self-isolate for 14 days after a trip out was suddenly changed after some people THOUGHT about the idea and threatened legal action against the Gov. What a shame that the care home residents didn't just obey the rules eh ?

From the BBC, my bolding;

Care home residents will be able to leave their home for low-risk trips without having to self-isolate for 14 days afterwards, the government says.
The rules will be relaxed in England from Tuesday, allowing for walks or garden visits without self-isolation.
The government says a fall in Covid cases means it is "much safer" for care home residents to go outside.
The charity John's Campaign says it is a "Chinese of light" for residents and their families.
But co-founder Julia Jones said she wanted to see the full guidance before making a decision about the charity's threat of legal action against the government's 14-day self-isolation requirement.
"I still struggle to see what legal right the government thinks it has for preventing people with full mental capacity walking out of their homes the same as any other member of the population," she told BBC Radio 4's Today programme.

But apparently they will still have to self-isolate after returning from the GPā€™s surgery!

I seem to remember the govt being vilified for the amount of deaths in care homes , now they are being extremely cautious they are still wrong

The phased release from lockdown would have freed them up in time as it is with the rest of us, itā€™s just that so many experts who donā€™t shoulder the responsibility think they know better.

You mean JVT ? I'd have thought he knew way better than any Politician. I'd certainly trust him more than any Politico.

On and off for many years.
You can go inside from the 17th of May

I am in a very vulnerable group and the advice for me was not to go into anyone else's home until at least 3 weeks after the second vaccination regardless of the general rules. That is the reason I am not going to see family until 3 June assuming I get my jag on 13 May.

Maybe part of the reason some are more cautious is because the average age of those on the forum will be higher than the general population and/or many have health issues. IMV being unwilling to take more risks than are advisable isn't anything to do with 'unremitting apathetic acquiescence' but just being sensible. At present if I caught CV I know full well I would likely end up in hospital in a very bad state, and this is despite having had my first vac, so you do it your way I'll do it mine.

I hope neither you nor I catch it as we may end up in adjoining hospital beds.

I am being very very careful - not only because of my personal risk but also because if I don't take up a bed in ICU that bed will be available for someone else.

He stated I believe how safe we are or weā€™re becoming as a result of vaccinations but suggested I believe that we should be more at ease but not to break the rules.
JVT is the one to listen to imv.

Some of you seem to have forgotten that one of the reasons for this staged release from the horrible ordeal of that last lockdown was to see what would happen when we were given a bit more freedom. We only know for sure with the benefit of hindsight ie time. Everything else is speculation. At the moment it looks like we are getting away with it , the numbers are staying low, the vaccine is working , but Chris Whitty and Patrick Vallance do expect the numbers to increase as we mix more and more variants occur. Itā€™s inevitable. Itā€™s not going away in a hurry unless weā€™re very lucky, itā€™s about what numbers we will accept, hopefully they will stay low.

If for no other reason than respect for all those who have died, why canā€™t you just obey the rules for a bit longer, itā€™s not a lot to ask. To compare it to breaking the speed limit is so very irritating, yes Iā€™ve done it. However I didnā€™t get in my car and decide I would drive through North Cheriton like a mad woman, I had a momentary lapse of concentration and got caught doing 34 mph, didnā€™t slow down fast enough on a road I drive regularly. I didnā€™t decide to break a rule because I didnā€™t like it.

If the laws were enforced fairly there might be more that comply.
When you see a group of 150 Travellers attending a funeral, politicians and the rich and famous not prosecuted do you really wonder why some of us break the 'rules'?
Then again, maybe the police did their own professional risk assessment on that taking into account personal safety as well as the inevitable BBC and other media bashing them for it....

I don't think even the BBC would complain if the police 'took on' the lawless sections of the Travelling Community - much easier to break up a student house party.....

Just saying......

Apparently, I am allowed now to look after my little grandaughter in my mh, and I will be doing due to necessity. (I am concerned though) :(

I am not going to allow anyone else inside my mh though. Happy to talk in the open air but I suspect that I will be wearing my mask more regularly than most...

We really do need to throw everything we 've got at this virus once and for all.

Norden Farm is looking promising weather wise Joy. I will be there so if youā€™re worried you just have to give me a shout and I will do my best to reassure you or whatever. I think you are being sensible, we want to have a lovely time and stay OK.

From todayā€™s Telegraph:
ā€œWhile many of us are enjoying the chance to socialise and travel normally, some are clinging fearfully to the safety behaviours enforced upon us during the pandemic. What was once a rational response to danger has become a ā€œmaladaptiveā€ response as the danger recedes.

It was Marcantonio Spada, professor of addictive behaviours and mental health at London South Bank University, and Ana Nikčević, a psychology professor at Kingston University, who identified and named the phenomenon of Covid-19 anxiety syndrome.

Early in the pandemic, they hypothesised there would be a number of coping behaviours people would adopt in relation to the perceived threat of Covid, which, while initially helpful, may over time become problematic, especially during the process of reintegration. These behaviours ā€“ which may include not touching things, avoiding using public transport, worrying, and monitoring our environment and other people for the presence of the virus ā€“ could potentially keep us ā€œstuckā€, they suggested.ā€
