Since 2005 ish
Sheree and i had a chat the other night and the germ of an idea was planted !
Sell the motorhome, boat, motorbike and both cars, take a leave-of-absense
and fly to the states. Buy an rv travel around for six months then fly home
putting the rv and possibly a boat on a ship to be collected when they arrive
at Southampton. Then selling them once through customs etc.
Would love some input from others. Good or bad

Sounds perfectly logical to me. ::bigsmile: I have heard of plenty of people that have just done that. It would seem that it is easy to get the vehicle registered here now, as long as you choose a model that is common here already. The uncertainty about registrations of the last year or so seems to have disappeared

I love your idea, but I would want to stay a year though:roflmto:

Hi Highwayman

I hope you're not mad because Jan and I are talking about doing the same thing.
We've been talking to a dealer in the states and the prices at the moment with the current exchange rate are fantastic. Personally I don't think there's ever been a better time to go to the states. The opportunity has come a couple of years early for us but we've decided to go for it, in fact Jan handed in her notice as well this week

We are hoping to fly out in next fortnight and have a look, we planned to go next week but our guy had to cancel at shortnotice and as we have been dealing with him we have delayed our trip.

Also it appears if you buy on the West Coast you can get an even better deal and if you are going to spend time over there it does'nt matter where you start from.
The guy I'm talking to is in California and is very helpfull, UK dealers could learn so much about how to treat potential customers, if you're interested send me a pm and I'll give you his details.

Go for it you usually only get one chance
