Just after new year we Parked a night ion Car Park at Moraira near the Seafront, amonst about 12 other Motorhomes with no Problem, returned last weekend nobody there parled up and just as Dinner was served the Guarda Civil knocked the door and explained no Overnight and overered to escort us to local campsite? We asked if we could finish dinner first to which they agreed, then we moved to local Campsite.
Next night moved to Benidorm and spot on street near Villasol which had people overnight whole of our stay over xmas was all vacant seems they were all moved on, we then struggled to find a site with a space and ended up on a site parked outside somebodys Mobile home (they were not there)
Seems that Spain is clamping down on Wildcamping? or is it me?
I know recently 12 Motorhomes were fined By Murcia Police camping in Cartegena and Aguilas.
If this is happening then Spain urgently needs more Aires and campsites at reasonable rates?

Thare clamping down on free loading tossers who have spoilt it for every one it's just going to be a memory soon do you remember when we used to free park till we f/?.,#+d it up those were thee days

Spain has been clamping down for years now.. and when you see the mess some places are in it's understandable.. :(

from what I've read, Beni is like a refugee camp along the front.. that can only lead to police taking action.

Bill's comment might be harsh, but not directed at the OP I'm sure .. just saying how it generally is..

Very harsh Bill.

Given the will to be bothered i could search your posts and find dozens of posts containing wildcamping references and secret places you found but havent divulged..
you were quite happy "free loading" then.

When diy beer brewing falls out of your favour will all the other brewers be tossers as well. ?

thing is so many have messed it up for every one by over staying there welcome abusing the places the original poster has confirmed that.
it was not amid at the original poster but was a generalisation of the situation.
and I apologise if it cased hurt or distress

As ScotlandJim says, understandable in places where people have taken the peepee! Disappointing for the rest of us who recognise what is acceptable and what is not.

I still do free camp but use the places I go with discretion and consideration for both the environment and the local community.
No mater where I have stayed I have always left it better than I have fund it
As I am sure most on her do

I always have and always will do.
Always use campsites as a preference but sometimes they are not near to where i want to be?
I live on the Spanish coast and have seen the results of campers who do not care so not surprised at the clampdown.
I asked my question as it seems that the clampdown is spreading?

Bit harsh Bill. Is Micky really a 'free loading tosser'?? :Eeek::Eeek::Eeek:
I was not referring to the original poster but was a genrilisation of how free camping has been spoilt by the minority
I still free cam with consideration for the local community and the environment
and my comment was not directed at the OP as a few of the comments have ben directed at me attack the post not the poster
I apologise if my comments offended or distress any one

No problem Bill but it appeared you were tarring all with same brush while enjoying free camping/wildcamping yourself.

That post was a generalisation but theirs a defiance between free camping and free loading when I camp off site we use the local shops use the local pubs.
Buy or veges from local shops don't dump our rubbish or waste down storm drains only stay one or two night's
have never left a site worse than when I have arrived.
maybe sum tyre marks
so I get upset when I her how folks now find it almost impossible to free camp owing to the total disregard for the actions of others.
I am sure that there will be others reedy to rip in to me now as well

its nothing new. its happening most places because of the selfish few. do you recall the video on this forum last winter showing hundreds of motorhomes parked up for months camping on waste ground and on the streets in spain?

If that video clip is anything to go by, I'm glad I am in sunny winter Dorset! It looks horrendous crammed in like that and I can sympathise with the Spanish residents and police!

that was last year, and by what i have been told by people who are or have been there, this year is busier than ever. no pitches left on the campsites and all the regular carparks and wasteground overflowing

where is the enjoyment to be had in that sort of encampment? out in the wilds, miles from anywhere with just you and maybe one other van in clean natural surroundings, now that I agree is wildcamping. the others are just freeloading tossers who put nothing into the local economy, they just leach off it

That's the second time I have seen the vid and its a ghetto that's what has screwed it up just tomany in one place
motor home city.
crime I bet was rife thare such a pitay so many camped not parked

To be honest i've seen em packed in tighter at some of the motorhome shows.
so have I, but only there for a few days but the logistics of water waste and entertainment is all in place officially and to a standard. takes months to arrange and costs plenty
on a carpark or waste ground you are lucky to find a single tap and a manhole that is joined to the drains.

Moraira is a lovely place and I've visited it most years for the past 20 usually May or June, not in a motorhome but I can't remember there being any motorhomes in carparks. Is it too hot at that time of year or maybe they have always clamped down after the winter season. I'm back in June will ask the relatives what the situation is .

The video is terrible why would anyone want to park like that, some of them look expensive rigs as well, yes its not wild camping thats free loading and if I could not afford to pay for somewhere decent to stay I would not bother to go. I don't blame the Spanish for moving people on. we call them travellers or gypsy's in the UK.

Just viewed the video, wow!! All that seems to be missing are the woven reed baskets for sale and maybe a couple tarmac, tree surgeon and scrap wagons.

There was a big bust up last weekend onsite . The weather was cold and windy which always brings the carpark dwellers in for the night to fill up/empty with the amenities and then go . Two of the vans had 2 toilet cassettes each and after emptying in the correct place proceeded to rinse and swill out in the washing up sinks DIRTY B***TARDS . It only needs one daft motorhome to spoil it for the rest
